Hi everybody!

I would like to know what "black friday" comes from and what that means. I've seen all the fabric offers because it's black friday but I have no idea.......
Is there somebody willing to explain it to me? Thank you,Pinot from France

I believe it's because there is so much shopping going on that day, that the stores go from being "in the red" to being "in the black" financially.

They call that day Black Friday because it is the one day all the merchants lower prices, open very early to get shoppers in. They total their profits and hopefully it gets them in the "black" as far as their sales. Usually most people have off that day because of Thanksgiving being on a Thurs so the Big Sales are the next day(friday) So now we have the tradition of Black Friday!

Always the day after Thanksgiving.....it is the kickoff for the Christmas shopping season. Big discounts on great gifts.

Yes it was traditionally the day that retailers turn the corner - so to speak- and start making a profit - not so sure these days  LOL
