Black pepper for laundry

Just read this to keep colors from fading. Just add 1 tsp. of black pepper to you detergent when doing colors. Anyone tried this.

First I have heard of it but it's a good use of the pre ground black pepper. Yuk. I love fresh ground though.

Well, black pepper is known to stop bleeding if you have a cut
and it does not even hurt.

Never heard of this before. Not sure if I would like the strong odor of black pepper on my clothes, sheets and quilts.

I wouldn't. If you look at black pepper through a magnifying glass or even on the internet, it's like a burr. Don't see how it could keep anything from fading. More like get caught in the fabric and maybe itch.

I don't know about using it to prevent fading but I'll try it on my next cut since most of them happen in the kitchen and the pepper would be convenient. .

Just can't imagine it not burning, when you work with peppers themselves you are always warned not to put your hands near your eyes etc.

What was the source of this information?

Found this info at various laundry websites:

Spice up the colors in your laundry by shaking a few teaspoons of black pepper into each load. Don’t worry about flakes of pepper dotting your clothes. The pepper will wash out during the rinse cycle.

Black Pepper: adding some teaspoons of black pepper into each load to your laundry could keep the colors of your clothes. Do not worry about pepper dotting your clothes as it will wash out through the rinse cycle. - See more at: http://www.pouted.com/4-natural-mate....5ZMduZwC.dpuf
