Blessed and a new request for me

On December 30, 2011 at 9:46 a.m. I was blessed with another nephew. When I visited my DSIL and him she had Eli snuggled in the quilt I made him. It melted my heart! My DBIL asked me if I could make baby Eli some beanies for his cute little head. Eli was born 5 weeks early, however the premie beanies were too small and the newborn beanies were too big. After scouring the internet for free patterns, I came up with these. My first try I made 7, all but one were too small. I increased the size and made another it was a little too big but if cuffed it fit. They are made out of old sweaters that are too big for my DH and me. My DSIL loves them and since I have made two more! I learned to make a trial for fit and then make more. I was so excited how easy these were I couldn't stop making them. I am going to donate the ones that didn't fit Eli to the local hospital's NICU.

One of the wonderful things about this quilting site is getting to see pictures of new babies! What a darling picture! and a great idea you had to use up warm sweaters!
Awww, what a cutie!!! Oh, love the beanies too!!! Great use of old sweaters.

Way to go Auntie! They look very comfortable and stylish.

So cute and I see another cutie in the background!!!
LOL Way to be resourceful ! And is that big sis in the background ? nephew is adorable :)
THAT IS A WONDERFUL THING TO DO FOR YOU LOCAL HOSPITALS. Everyone should try and share.
He is one of three beautiful babies all under the age of 3. Big sister is so funny about the quilts I have made for them! If her brother takes hers she tells him no and gets his for him. She even brings the new baby his and tells him to snuggle up! They are all so precious and I love them dearly.
Oh I didn't see the little cutie in background.
How precious he is! Good job on the hat.
What a wonderful idea for a charity project! Do you remember the site you found for instructions?
OMG, how adorable - the baby and the caps!
Baby Eli is too cute, so are your beanies.
Do you have the link of where you found the pattern. We do a lot of projects in our local quilt group and this would a great one for donation.
That takes me back to our oldest who was a premie- 3 lbs 12 oz
Oh my goodness, he is just adorable! oh and so are the little hats you have made for him : )
Eli is adorable and you can see his sister watching tv. so cute
Awwwwww, he is soooooo adorable! What a precious little angel. My son was a preemie and my grandson was a preemie, so I know how tiny they can be and how hard it is to fit diapers and clothing on them. You did a great job on his little beenie. Should keep his head nice and toasty warm.
Auntie, how do you work with the sweaters so they won't ravel when you cut out the pattern?
Those caps are awesome and so resourceful. And of course, Baby Eli is an precious angel. (We have an Eli. Watch out! He's a handful, but an absolute joy!) |
What a precious baby. The second picture looks like he's thinking "Look what my Auntie made just for me!"
The baby is so cute and your idea to make the hats is wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
