for bloggers...

I'm fairly new to the blogging world, and was wondering how you guys get exposure for your blog and increase your followers...

Well, I stopped by your blog just from this posting! Tried to leave you a comment, but for whatever reason it would not take.

I used to blog frequently, most of the time no comments.
Then I began a postcard swap and things started moving with lots of visitors. It was a lot of fun. Then we moved to Texas and I just can not get back into my blog for anything. So, my best idea is to host some type of swap.

Some bloggers add their blogs to a blog "ring" where readers can just select to move to the next blog member by clicking on the button. These rings are usually set up by members with a similar subject matter - like rings for scrap quilters, stay at home moms, gardening, etc. Being a member can increase your readership. Watch for these rings on blogs you read.

I am not a ring member, but here is an example of a blog that is. This blog is a member of a ring called "quilt designers blog ring" - see the button on her sidebar to see what I mean: http://quiltaholic.wordpress.com/

I liked your blog and was able to leave a comment with no trouble. Best wishes to your newest family member and her cute big sister, too!

I checked it out also, very nice. By the way, you might want to check out vintage Simgers. They don't cost much and can sew over Velcro or heavy things with no issues. I had the same problem when I made pillows for my SIL. It sprung the machine and I had to take it in for repair. I never have that problem with my 1950 Singer I paid $40 for.

There are also link ups where one blogger will host and others can put a link (usually with a picture) to their blog on the same topic. Try http://freshlypieced.blogspot.com/ if you are interested.

I visited you blog - very nice. Also Lily has a small blog meet. Where you can meet and follow others. I think it's once a month. Here's her link: http://lilysquilts.blogspot.com/

I blog, but not for exposure. I use it as a journal to remember what I've done, what I used, where I found my inspiration or instruction. Just a way to see what I've accomplished, and watch how my skills improve. I don't keep a lot of my own work, so I forget how much I've really done or how I did it. More like a diary for me.
