Ok, I admit it, the anonymous phone bidder was me!

I WISH!

**sigh** I love diamonds

tlrnhi 05-12-2009 11:28 PM

That's pretty, but I can think of other things to spend that kind of money on

Izy 05-12-2009 11:34 PM

Beautiful....but I bet it hardly spends anytime on someone's finger

Oh gawd, that wasn't Katie 'Jordan' Price and Peter Andre was it? What nightmares they are. They just announced they are seperating and it made the 10 O'Clock News! For Crying out loud! What is the world coming to?

But yes, if I had that kind of money I would buy some nice jewellery, a nice car, a super duper sewing machine and flights to visit everyone from here, buying fabric along the way!

Ninnie 05-13-2009 03:41 AM

Love diamonds, I admit it!

I'll keep the one I have had forever and buy material instead

I would love to see it though in person and maybe just hold it for awhile!

Ohhhhhh.....well I guess my DH DID find that anniversary gift for me

tlrnhi 05-13-2009 04:21 AM

LOL Patti.

I once had a $50,000 diamond on my finger. It was pretty, but was HUGE! Actually gawdy looking. I fantasized as to what I could get with that kind of money and the diamond wasn't one of them. Was fun trying it on tho. For fun sometimes, the girls and I would walk down Waikiki and window shop. Once in a while, they would want to go into some of the jewelry stores. The stores didn't care what you were dressed like, they welcomed you in, let you try on anything and everything. Was fun sometimes, but then everything had to go back. lol
Oh yes....the doors to the store were locked and there were security guards there too, so no way I could "lift" it. lol

Actually I wouldn't EVEN be tempted by the big diamond...now I am a diamond kinda girl, I'll admit....but a big ole' gawdy rock???? No...I'll take tastefully understated anyday and then buy more toys with the left over money... I' ve never even tried on one of those big ones

sewjoyce 05-13-2009 04:55 AM

The diamond is absolutely beautiful!!

But think of all the sewing stuff you could buy with that amount of money...

I agree, I always tend to think those massive diamonds must be fake. NOt that I see many massive diamonds around here!

I have a three stone diamond ring I wear on my right hand..centre stone is 1/2 carat with a 1/4 carat either side. Very good clarity and colour. Small enough not to get in the way, I wear it every day, but big and sparkly enough to make other women look at it!

Izy 05-13-2009 05:09 AM

Well I think you should show us your diamonds Mary...they we can all post ours and compare styles in rings too!! Mine ring is three diamonds with a 'princess' cut square centre...(I think, its been on my finger for nearly 8 years waiting for a companion.....

I'll show you mine if you show me yours!

I'll post a pic later when I get home.

kwhite 05-13-2009 06:44 AM

For that rock I would not mind being Gawdy at all!!!! Bring it on!!!!

BellaBoo 05-13-2009 07:07 AM

I think the biggest suckers are the ones that buy this stuff. I have never seen a reason to having expensive jewelry. It serves no purpose at all.

Well, one man's (or woman's!) meat is another ones poison, horses for courses and all that! My ring serves a magnificent purpose..it makes me happy!

Mplsgirl 05-13-2009 08:12 AM

It never occurred to me that a ring could be too big! However, if I were to take pix of my rings I would have to use someone else's hand. As my husband said one time when he was holding an item he wanted to sell on Ebay and I took the picture. When he saw it he said "Whose old man hands are those?"

barnbum 05-13-2009 09:13 AM

I don't even wear mydiamond--or my wedding band any more. Jewelry gets in the way!! Hubby knows I'd gladly hock them for shavings, hay, straw, or fabric.

zyxquilts 05-13-2009 09:39 AM

Oooh, that is a pretty sparkly!
I'm not one for big stones either, but my gf has a 2 carat diamond ring (bought pre-daughter LOL) & most people think it's a zirconia!!
I have my sapphire "General Motors Mark of Excellence" ring that I earned at work & am always amazed at all the compliments it gets! (Almost as many comments as my LEGO (r) watch gets! )

Here we go girls....lets show off our diamonds....

Total 1 carat (centre stone is half, each one either side is quarter).
Brilliant Cut
Clarity - SI-2
Colour - G
4.3 grams total (inc the 14kt white gold setting)

I bought it for myself, in 2004 in Aruba, to celebrate my recent promotion. They are Conflict Free Diamonds.

I love it! I like to think of it as an 'inheritance piece'!

sewjoyce 05-13-2009 05:08 PM

Beautiful diamond!! Glad you bought something nice for yourself!

That is gorgeous! Okay I will show a couple of mine.

Mplsgirl 05-13-2009 06:49 PM

The first is my wedding ring I had done in the diamond district in LA. The second is a rough cut ruby underneath (I will try to show another pic) with diamonds and rubies on top.

sandpat 05-13-2009 06:52 PM

Very pretty girls!!

here are my last ones.

Mplsgirl 05-13-2009 07:03 PM

The 2nd pic is the rough cut ruby. From the side it is the tree of life. See the bark on the ring? The first is a coin ring I got many years ago. If anyone knows anything about it, I would like to know. I have never had it appraised.

PrettyKitty 05-14-2009 02:59 AM

Ooooh Pam they are pretty! That Tree of Life one is unusual, never seen anything like that before
