Bonnie Hunter's plea for 'flags' for Canada

I saw her request last evening and followed to the site for the pattern. There were no instructions given, but the tops are simple. My question is: are we supposed to put a back on them? It sorta looked like it , but not sure.
Thanks.

looked on her site & blog, but could not find the reference. Can you provide a link?

A back, yes; batting, no. They want flags, not quilts...like the ones sent for the London Olympics or the Boston bombing. These are for Lac Mégantic, the town in Québec that was destroyed by fire when an oil tanker train blew up.

I couldn't find it either. Was this on the web site?

Here;s the link to the directions ... you are basically making a 6"wide x 8" tall flag with bias strings to tie to the next flag.

It's in the 3rd link that GhostRider provided.
For anyone making these flags, please note the colours NOT to use .... red, orange and yellow as it reminds them of the flames.

What I did not see in the instructions was how long the bias string should be made?

Here's hoping that many will make them and send them to CoutrepointeClaire.
(reminder: They would like to have them all in by Saturday August 24th)

Thanks, QuiltE. *wink* I forgot to mention that about the colors.

it says on there NO bias strings as they are stretchy...I would think I would make them 12-18 inches a piece. I they are are too long, they could be trimmed. JMHO

I missed the post regarding the flags, thank you for sharing (and reminding) us. Here are more links regarding the flags:

Thanks ... I was thinking binding and typed bias!

Thank you for posting this, I hadn't seen it before. The directions say to make one long binding for the top of the pennant with the ends extending for ties, rather than separate ties attached so it won't put stress on the corners.
It's a little confusing, I'm wondering do we have to use the string pieced heart pattern & pieced squares that the courtepointeclaire provided, or can we put our own interpretation on them remembering the colour restrictions?
