Just opened mail, gift from friend

Front cover:

1. pretty fabric is not acceptable. go right back and exchange it for something you feel sorry for.
2. realize that patterns and templates are only someone's opinion and should be loosely translated. personally, i've never thought much of a person who could only make a triangle with three sides.

back:

6. throw away your seam ripper and repeat after me: "Oops. Oh well, no one will notice."

I love this lady's sense of humor...kinda whacked, just like mine.

erstan947 07-05-2011 10:00 AM

grayma 07-05-2011 10:05 AM

I have this book and have intended to reread it (it's been over two years). Thanks for the reminder.

Lucymae 07-05-2011 10:07 AM

I'll have to read this one!!

RkayD 07-05-2011 10:09 AM

I pulled this book off my shelf last night. Its always nice to laugh about something that sometimes we take way too serious. =)

Sounds like a great book! I'll have to keep an eye open for it!

BarbaraSue 07-05-2011 08:10 PM

I love this book. I read it every now and again, especially when I'm getting all tensed up over a quilting project. this book helps me to laugh my stress away and accept what I sew is still good.
Enjoy!!:)

Someone gave me this as a gift a couple of years ago. I have read a couple of times. Very good advice, and very, very funny! And, she's also written 'Stash Envy', another good one. She is very talented, both in quilting and writing, and is one smart cookie (and no, she's not a relative!!).

dglvr 07-06-2011 01:26 AM

Ha. I'll need to find this book. I'm always looking for a good laugh.

Krystyna 07-06-2011 03:29 AM

I purchased it from a forum member and laughed all the way through it. And ... identified a little too much.

JudieRQuilting 07-06-2011 05:18 AM

We certainly can take ourselves too seriously, can't we. My mom keeps reminding me that quilting should be fun. I agree.

caspharm 07-06-2011 07:38 AM

I have that book, it's very funny. The author is Lisa Boyer and she has another book called "Stash Envy," that is also very funny. She is definitely not the quilt police, but a real person. :)

I have another book aimed towards husbands called" Help! I married a quilter" by Mark Hyland. This one is also funny.

I paid 1 cent on Amazon and with shipping for 3.99 I got it for $4.00. Can't beat that deal either. :)

IBQUILTIN 07-06-2011 01:32 PM

After all of the totally dumb mistakes I made yesterday, it would be a big relief to read this book and feel better about that silly quilt I am trying to finish

carrieg 07-06-2011 02:22 PM

Loved that book!

dljennings 07-06-2011 03:37 PM
