When a tutorial is removed, is it also removed from an individual's bookmarks?

Patty Patches 05-09-2011 05:29 PM

Boy,I hope not

AnnaK 05-09-2011 06:01 PM

I would think so since the bookmark is just a link to the tutorial. One way to preserve it would be to print it when you see it and keep it in hard copy.

jeaninmaine 05-09-2011 08:16 PM

Why would they remove tutorials? Now you've got me nervous. I'll have to go and make a copy of all the ones I've bookmarked. That's going to take forever.

amma 05-09-2011 10:02 PM

Only a very few tutorials have been removed, these were due to copyright issues.
Many do get moved to the Links section, when they are only a link to a different site. :D:D:D

patricej 05-10-2011 12:32 AM

Was it "removed" or moved?

Our Tutorials section is exclusively for tutorials written by board members. In order to remain in that section, the whole tute must be posted here at the board.

anything posted in the Tutorials section that points to something off-board will either be moved to Links & Resources or (in some rare cases) deleted.

Has anyone figured out a way to organize bookmarks -- I keep so many, it would be so helpful if I had a way to categorize them. Thanks.......

Use the "My Pages" feature. You can set up a category, ie diamond log cabin, and then put links to related posts there. Look at my categories: http://www.quiltingboard.com/user_pa...?usernum=14813 You can also put short comments beside the link.

grocifer 05-10-2011 07:39 AM

Thanks Suen -- that is valuable information. I'll have to get busy and use "my pages". I never even realized it was a option!

SherriB 05-10-2011 07:43 AM

I have recently started using "My Pages" instead of bookmarks. Makes it so much easier to find what I wanted to save.

Stitchit123 05-10-2011 08:06 AM

This has happened to me many times so now I have a printer at home and at the end of the day I print out my book marks instead of waiting to use the library's computers when returning books

Kallen 05-10-2011 08:20 AM

I've bookmarked a few things now and never know whether to push yes or no for "Public." What does that mean?

GrandmK 05-10-2011 10:21 AM

Glad you asked because I want to know the answer to that question also

Create folders in your Favorite bar and than send them to appropriate folder.

Judy C 05-10-2011 11:06 AM

Glad you ask that question, I would like to know that as well.

crafty lady 05-10-2011 01:00 PM

me too!

Yooper32 05-10-2011 02:35 PM

I too wondered about that. Guess we still don't know, do we?

another good question....

raksmum 05-10-2011 06:16 PM

I think if you check "yes" other people who may check out your profile on the site can also see what you book mark. If you check "no" only you can see your bookmarks

Sue, You set your "Pages" up really well, thanks for sharing! So much less to look through than "Bookmarks". :D

I'm in the same boat. I have to wait for my son to come over on Sundays for my personal tech support to help.

I have lost several things that i had saved in my favorites. I would go back to the page and it would give me the message that the page i was looking for was no longer available. Best idea is to print them off as soon as you can.
