You can get brown boxes from UPS, or one of those mail houses that rent out mail boxes to people. They are only a buck or two. :)

I was just thinking the same thing today. I'm giving a quilt as a wedding gift and I wanted a white gift box to put it in.

at Christmas time, buy the super big ones. I must look like a nut, I but TONS of them. The largest they have.

I usually get my boxes at the dollar store (pkg of three)
The large ones are big enough for a baby quilt.

I think I will stop by the dry cleaners tomorrow to see if they have quilt size boxes and if they will sell me one. They put wedding gowns in them and they would be acid free!

Most office supply stores and copy centers have boxes too. Sometimes the smaller 'mom & pop' ones will have the ones their stuff came in and will charge only a very nominal fee for these boxes.

Michaels and Joanns have some beautiful boxes that can be used as a decoration after they take out the quilt. I bought a lovely one from Joanns for 14.99 and used a coupon and got 40% off. The lap quilt fit in beautifully.
