Pressing all the seams open on one side before turning to make easier pressing on the right side! Wowee! what a tip - I had never seen/heard of that before and I'm sure gonna give it a try. Sounds like it would almost eliminate those little wandering edges from one side to the other that seem inevitably to happen in the most visible spot.

Maybe I won't be picking at that part of the seam with my tailor's awl to get it all lined up. Thank you, thank you!

Jackie R 12-22-2010 05:17 PM

Thank you so much - that is really neat. I'm going to have to make one of those.

Exactly - you won't be needing the awl if you press everything to one side. I just made another one and embroidered the first initial of their last name on it. I made some banana muffins to put in the basket and will give it tomorrow. I see that I need to learn how to center the embroidery in that spot.

I used the ruler in the pictures because I had it, but you can use a dessert plate or something like that.

I am thrilled people are liking this idea. I saw it in another post here on the board and loved it myself. The QB is a wonderful place for sharing!

kwiltkrazy 12-22-2010 08:32 PM

Thank you, I will definitely make this, I am always using a linen towel to keep the bread warm.

Dee 12-22-2010 10:01 PM

Thanks for sharing this great tute. I love it. Saw them and now I get how it is made.

SandyMac 12-23-2010 04:22 AM

Thanks and I have enough time to make one for christmas dinner.

Another item of interest that I learned while learning to weave baskets, that is the one art that has not yet been industrialized. Every basket you pick up to fill has been handcrafted. A homemade recipe covered by the handmade breadbasket liner makes it a very special personal gift.

Quilter7x 12-23-2010 06:56 AM

That's a great idea - to add the recipe. I should have done that before I gave the basket this morning. Great idea for the future.

I didn't know that all baskets are hand crafted, but I think that's pretty cool!

Dkm 12-23-2010 07:14 AM

Thanks. this is another on the to do list.

elsieirene 12-23-2010 08:08 AM

Gee thanks! These will make great gifts.

nativetexan 12-23-2010 10:03 AM

wow, thanks. and one could use a bowl if they didn't have a basket. very cute idea.

CarrieAnne 12-23-2010 12:15 PM

Thanks!

Take about an 18" square of two fabrics, one for the inside and one for the outside. Draw half circles about 6" on all four sides and cut out those pieces. Sew leaving an opening. Turn, press, top stitch if desired and you're done!

So cute and simple! Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much. I'm going to have to make one :-)

I'm pretty sure I got it at JoAnn's. Can't remember exactly, but when I can't find something to use a coupon on, I always go look at the rulers to see what one I don't have and use the coupon on that.

Mousie 12-24-2010 10:31 AM

wow...super fast and easy...my kind of project!!!
woo hoo, good job, 7!

Thank you for the tutorial.
