Is your Mom starting to have memory issues?
|
I surely do know how that feels. I speak from experience, except that mine was on a rummage sale, and someone told me. I nearly cried out loud.
|
I'm so sorry your momma was so inconsiderate of you and your sister's feelings. I have saved several unloved quilts in my time as a quilter. I love them all. Some are tattered and torn, some are still just tops needing repaired and quilted. I'm sure who ever bought your quilt loves it or is reselling it on ebay to someone who will love it.

I am so sorry this happened to you. We made one for my MIL, picking out colors she wanted, and she later gave it to her daughter. At least it stayed in the family and my SIL cherishes it.
|
Sorry you have a broken heart, I understand. Make my sister a quilt, I thought I matched her personality. She gave it away.
|
So Sorry! Sometimes we are left only with the knowledge that what we did was for the right reasons. It's really nice that you and your sister had this time together. I'm sure you will be even closer after this.

I am so sorry to hear that something that was made with so much love gets put out like that. Mom still has everything that I've ever made her, I'd be hard broken if she tossed something out.
Is there any way for the Good Will to tell you if they have it, they must inventory every thing that comes in. |
I too u derstand. My DH oldest son recently got married about a year ago. His wife has 4 little girls. I was excited to get them as grand babies, and made them each a quilt. I contacted the DIL, telling her I made quilts for each one of the girls, and that next time they are over to take them to them. That was nearly six months ago, have seen them several times, and their quilts are still here. Really disappoints me. I often wonder why she won't let the girls have them. Probably just as well. She would probably give them away, breaking my heart even more. If they stay married, I'll just keep them and give them to the girls when they get older. I don't know what else to do. On their labels I had put from your new gramma, with lots of love. Then dated each one. So even if they don't get them till they are older, they will know.

I would also ask the memory issues question. After we were forced to choose a nursing home for my MIL [after finding her wandering down the road in the middle of the night more than once] we discovered she had thrown away my husband's baby book and almost all the family pictures. We and all her grandchildren were devastated that we hadn't thought to put these things in a safe place.

I know how you are feeling-my mom did this sort of thing all the time. But-guess the best thing to do is just to let it go, or it will eat you. . .
