I would just like to ask what your top tension setting is thanks RitaFaye |

The reason I asked is I think my tension is off a bit and I went to the brother site for the test pattern

Take it apart and if you have to use a magnifying glass to check the bobbin case very closely. Mine had a tiny speck of lint in where the thread goes through the tension adjusting spring.and it messed up the whole stitching. Chase |

Depends on what I'm making, but usually -2

I have never touched the tension after the first time I tried to. I took it back to the shop and they said there was nothing wrong with it. It did not make a pretty stitch and still doesn't!

How very strange... I am also seriously thinking about buying this machine! Did not think to ask questions on this board because it's an embroidery-only machine. I guess quilters embroider a lot too...:)

I bought one and have never used it, When it was time to get instructions I was in hospital and was not able to attend the class and there has not been another given. I have had my machine for 2 years. Someday I will take the time to figure it out. Too busy quilting right now.

I have one and really like it - I have tension set at the 00 it came with - I did have a problem sometimes with the threading of the top thread - right at the take-up lever there was a microscopic piece of plastic making it a little difficult to get the thread seated properly. Once I started threading that part backwards (from the needle back up through the machine, (you can see the thread drop properly through that little window in front of the take-up lever), I haven't had any problem. I probably could file it off but I am concerned with getting the dust into the machine, so I just learned to do it that way.
As for quilting - yes, there are a lot of beautiful designs out there as well as being able to actually quilt blocks on embroidery machines - it is getting more and more popular. :-) Marysewfun |
I just purchased one and am having the same problem. I was in a class at the quilt shop a couple of days ago and was told that I would have to bring it in to have it recalibrated. I was also told that adjusting the tension in the display would simply reset each time the machine was turned off. I am hesitant to believe this but have not had a chance to play with it. I am just glad to know that I am not the only one and it isn't a loose screw between the seat and the fabric. (me:o) dhrladyracer
