It got way up to 8 degrees today in the Columbia Gorge! Great quilting weather! It's about time to migrate south, however. I hate trying to get around in the ice;I already broke my ankle once.

My sister lives in Bakercity Oregon. I talked to her today, and she said it's been below 0 there, too. January 2nd I'll be ready for Spring!!

Fresh fallen snow always looks so fresh and beautiful, doesn't it? The brightness of the blue sky is another plus to a fresh snow.
I enjoy seeing it in pictures, not so much in real life! Thanks for posting. |

Nice photos. My nephew drove from Lacey, WA, through Oregon and on to CA this weekend. He was impressed with the cold and the Oregon road conditions. We tried to tell him, but you know how oldsters know nothings. He did make it, but talked to a lot of locals who said they hadn't seen it that bad since 1966.

You have got to admit, Mother Nature paints a beautiful picture!

We have been leaving our water dripping day and night, if they froze the temperature has not warmed up enough to thaw them in the past week.
to old to deal with frozen pipes. |
It was -5 @ 1am this morning when I finally stopped feeding my firestove (Lopi) and went to bed .. DH came home and said it was -8 when he got into his job (He drives at night). Supposed to have a heat wave and get over 32 degrees sometime by Friday ~LOL
IS it summer or even spring yet ? LOL Our table tells us we have close to 14" of snow so far .. WHAT ?? Come on spring or summer !LOL :-) |
Love your pics. I am just out of Yosemite Nat' l Park, and woke up this morning to frozen water lines.

Luckily, we shut off the outside pipes, but have been keeping an eye on things. We ran the heater in the garage for a while last night, it is not insulated and my flowering plants are in there. DH said the tap water was slushy this morning! "Homer" the frog that lives in one of my plants in the garage has been awful quiet lately, lol!!
This is as cold as it's been for years and has broken several records for the area (Willamette Valley). I'm originally from ND so it is not as startling to me as it is to the natives. |
