Brushing animals teeth

My Male Cat (Kittycat) has bad breath and I tried to brush his teeth. No way!!!!! He likes the tooth paste but would not let me get in is mouth. Maybe I'll just put some tooth paste in his mouth with my finger once in awile.

lol I just buy the dental bones for our dog he's a boxer and he'd probably eat the tooth brush if I got it anywhere near his mouth.

I brush my 12 yr old lab Mollie's teeth every night. However, I started when I first got her at a year old. She looks forward to "teethy brushie time" and I give her a greenie afterwards. She has beautiful teeth and no tartar buildup. Breath is sweet too, never nasty breath, and have never had to have her teeth cleaned!!

Sunflower Girl, This is sogreat that you did this. I wish I had known to do this. Kittycat is 13yrs. Can't teach an old cat new things.

After paying last summer to have our beagles teeth cleaned we try to brush 3 or 4 times a week. His breath is awful as he eats anything and everything. We also got some pink liquid from the vets we squirt on his teeth after suppose to keep tarter down like mouth wash.
This is the first dog that has had such bad breath. He hates it. Wish I`d started when he was a puppy. He`s 7.He`ll probably need a cleaning again ths summer as i make no headway with his bottom as they are so small and tight.
