I've seen it on here several times now, what does "Bump" mean?

Lacelady 06-22-2009 01:58 PM

I think it means that someone is adding to a Recent Topic, so that it gets to the top of the list again, before it drops off the bottom of the list. (You can still find a topic in the search listing)

Butterflyspain 06-22-2009 02:21 PM

Your right. When a topic gets Bumped it gets to the top of the page again so that more people cn comment on it.

beachlady 06-22-2009 03:56 PM

You and the ape man, sure do have your issues don't you. I'm surprised he would mess with a teeny meanie woman such as yourself...oh, did I say that out loud?...I meant tiny mighty woman

Admin has heard of (or been to - not sure which) boards at which bumping eventually caused serioius problems. so many people were bumping their favorite topics that it effectively shut out new topics. that's why bumping is so strongly discouraged here. we want everybody to have a fair chance to "see and be seen".

Admin the Ape Man. hmmmm ... has a certain "ring to it". i sure am glad my name ain't Jane. (and NO! it isn't Cheetah, either!)

Lacelady 06-23-2009 01:10 AM

There would be a way around this, all you have to do is write a short sentence that might be relavant to the subject. That would be more legit, wouldn't it? Of course, it shouldn't be misused, as then the whole thing could get bogged down, and I can see Admin's problem.

k3n 06-23-2009 01:20 AM

What, like this you mean, lacelady? LOL

Running away very fast and hiding my hands from Ape Man! Naaah, he wouldn't dare, I'll snap his carrot on half! LOL

Yes, K3n, that's exactly what I had in mind, but I think you should leave his carrots alone, he might get cross.

k3n 06-23-2009 01:25 AM

Awwww, gorillas are gentle giants! Aren't they?! LOL

Lacelady 06-23-2009 01:30 AM

Some are, but I don't think they all are.

Bump means to Bump it up to the top so others can read it again.

Don't they live in Mid West Africa? (Great Apes, that is)

Shemjo 06-23-2009 06:06 AM

I get sew ticked at the KIND comments made on this forum. I saw a lot of bumps when I first joined and asked abut it also. I haven't seen any for a long time. All that is needed is a relavent comment and on you go!
