I am anxious to see some fall foliage and can't resist asking for a report from around the great state of Michigan. Please tell me what do you see outside your window?!

Our summer was miserably hot and dry and the liklihood of beautiful color around here is slim and next to none. We do have that wonderful chill in the air that declares FALL, and I am thankful for that.

As I write we are driving home from mt.pleasant area.our last camping outing for the season. Its still very green, just a hint of color, here and there.

Still lots of green around here in Redford (southeastern Michigan) -- a suburb of Detroit. I have seen a few trees that are beginning to change, but overall everything's still pretty green. It won't be much longer if this cool weather keeps up!  Michigan does put on a good show in the Fall doesn't it? :D

Thanks for the update. Hope you enjoyed your camping. Sept. and Oct. are our favorite months for camping. I have visions that everyone is beginning to see the color emerging.... except me.

It is still early for us, but I keep hoping that a weekend roadtrip "up north" is in the immediate future. Oh, for frosty mornings, hot coffee, and warm cozy sweaters. Yesssss!

Ohmigosh yes! Backroads and maple trees, hills and meadows, and I love the small towns.

My daddy used to live near Gaylord, Mich and for several years he made his own maple syrup -- the absolute best around!!!! He had absolutely no idea how to do it, but he has that southern way of looking at things -- "I'll figure it out" and "I can do that!" He lives in East Tennessee now, and I really miss his syrup! I recently finished the last of my "private stash" but made sure to save enough to put in a little maple leaf shaped bottle so I can display it. Goofy, yes, but I'm a bit of a sentimentalist.

There's nothing like maple syrup made right at home. wow. Did you ever make Maple fudge? Or those little melt in your mouth maple sugar candy in a leaf mold?

I am not a hot weather person. I live for the cool (even cold) days of Fall and everything that goes with it. I would like to go up into Canada when their first leaf begins to turn and then work my way south so I could experience Fall for MONTHS!

Still green here with just a very little splash of color. This is my favorite time of year.

Starting to color up nicely here in north east Michigan, I will try to take some pics if the sun comes out. We have beautiful rolling hills around our house and the view is great. It will be next weekend before we are in full color tho.

He and my stepmother made some maple candy as part of their "product line." The problem with syruping is you are at the mercy of the weather. The conditions have to be just right in order to have a good harvest. I helped him a couple of times, and let me tell you.....maple sap is some doggone heavy stuff!!!! Try gathering those buckets out by hand through deep snow, and you'll never complain about the price of REAL maple syrup!!

Patty, I love REAL maple syrup. Actually, I mix it with the not-real stuff just to make it last longer.

 I didn't think so.

We had a frost last night, but it was a light frost. It will help get the soybeans ready for harvest and possibly get some color on some trees!

So are there any new "foliage updates" in Michigan??
