Can't prove delivery wasn't delivered?

I got a notice a package was delivered at 1;06 today by Fed Ex. I was on my front porch from 12 to 2 pm reading . I contacted the help center and was told unless the package required a signature there was no way I could prove the package wasn't delivered. I asked if I could make a complaint and was told that was not an option for this. ??? Sorry but nothing we can do. It's on the website under regulations and I should have read that. I felt like I was considered trying to con the delivery company after talking to the help center. I contacted the company I ordered from and the rep said that has been happening a lot the last few months, much more then usual. I was issued a refund with no hassle. Seem if the company is recognized for certain items then the packages seem not to be delivered. If the burden of proof is on the receiver then no consequence at all to the delivery company is there?

lberna 07-16-2021 01:30 PM

Maybe if the company is known for certain items, they should not put their name on the package. Or, use a fictitious name and alert the buyer of this. Well, at least they suffered the loss. I guess they are ok with the thefts.

Maybe next time pay the extra cost for signature required?

T
hat was not an option from the selling company. Bottom line is all customers pay for the loss in higher prices.

Onebyone 07-16-2021 02:10 PM

According to my postman even if a signature was required I'd have to prove it wasn't mine or that someone signed for me that wasn't me. A video door bell is the best way to prove a package was not delivered at the time stated or that a delivery was made at all. Still a big hassle to prove with the delivery company but the video doorbell is a deterrent. This is the second time of no delivery in a few months. Both times a speedy refund was given.

Must be the reason that I receive a picture of the package on my porch with Amazon notification that package has been delivered. If you receive a refund from the company that sent the package, that's about all you can ask for. The sending company is chosing the shipping company so it is for them to follow up.

Same thing happened to me last week Amazon replaced it no questions asked. I was on the porch as well. Someone is lying and it isn't us. I have had numerous discussions with Macy's about their 8 inch plus logos on the outside of their boxes.....still no change.

I agree. As long as you get a refund then I wouldn't worry about it. If the company has to make enough refunds, they may change carriers. Loss of business will be their consequence.

Your package may show up today or in the next few days. Can you check with neighbors to see if they received it?

Onebyone 07-17-2021 05:26 AM

My neighbors have teeny tiny address numbers on their house. Mine are big, bold and can be seen from the street. It would have to be a very non observant person not to see the address on the package matches my house numbers. I got a refund but it still makes me grumpy to be told so what, who cares ? by the delivery company.

janiebakes 07-17-2021 07:12 AM

The Post Office lost my absentee ballot and all they will say seven phone calls later is "if there is no tracking number we can't help you". Grrrrrrrr.

Snooze2978 07-17-2021 07:17 AM

UPS from time to time has delivered some packages to either my neighbor next door or the next street behind me with the same house numbers. I've been able to call them and they have corrected the mistake. My UPS man knows me well too..... Sorry to hear FedEx is not as helpful.

Onebyone 07-17-2021 07:29 AM

Could be employees are few and far between these days so many get hired that probably shouldn't have.

There is a form for making a complaint to FedEx. https://ask.fedex.com/help/en-gb/som...rong/Complaint

I've heard more complaints about FedEx than about any other carrier. Often it's that they delivered the package to the wrong address. If I have a choice, I order from a place that uses USPS or UPS, but sometimes you don't know who the carrier will be.

I ordered a part from Singeronline last July which is over a year ago. All of the items that were from singeronline.com were received but my ruler foot slant which was the most expensive item on my order was to be delivered by store.yahoo.com and I never received it. I have written numerous times about the missing item and all I get in reply is an email asking if I have received my shipment. It is so frustrating. I think web sites should let the buyer know when parts of the order will be fulfilled by another company.

That really does no good. Hubby ordered a computer and was notified by FedEx that it would be delivered on [day] and someone would need to sign for it. I won’t go into detail about the fiasco we had regarding supposed attempted deliveries, notices that it would be delivered on [day], notices that delivery was delayed, etc. that went on for 9 days. Hubby was out of town so I didn’t go anywhere during that time waiting for the delivery. Finally one day I happened to see the FedEx truck and went to the door for the delivery just in time to see the truck drive away and the package (with the computer name clearly visible to potential porch pirates) sitting on the sidewalk in front of my porch. Hubby then received a notice that the package was delivered and he had signed for it. Remember, he’s out of town. When he asked customer service about it (one of many calls throughout this ordeal) they said he had released the delivery with no signature required, which he hadn’t done.

Lier, lier pants on fire! Seems like there are more & more that just don't tell the truth these days & seem to get away with it. I don't trust anyone I don't know anymore & I sure don't trust the politicians. Even the news is untrustworthy...you have to verify everything before you believe it.

That is the site I found the contact us if my complaint wasn't listed. I got my refund so if the package is found now and delivered it will be a much bigger hassle that I am tired of messing with.

Porch pirates are sneaky! My mom's neighbor showed me her Ring video of her(the neighbor's) porch package being stolen. The guy pulled into my mom's driveway, casually walked over and retrieved the package, got back in his truck and left. Could see his face, but did not recognize.

juliasb 07-18-2021 09:02 AM

I do wish companies offered the options for signature when packages are delivered but it raised the cost of delivery. i am sure many would take this option though. I like that Amazon sends me of picture of the delivery. I do most of my shopping on line (including groceries). I have only had a few problems over the years. In most cases I have received my money back. or even a replacement item. I am glad you got your refund.

Peckish 07-20-2021 10:46 AM

FexEx is the worst. Every single delivery we get via them goes to our neighbor's house, they have the same house number but live on a different street.

I like Amazon's system of taking a picture of the package on the porch and sending it to us, but Amazon has never mis-delivered a single package, so I've never needed the proof.

Those doorbell cameras don't seem to deter porch pirates much, they just cover their faces and move in and out of camera range quickly. The local law enforcement doesn't do anything with the video because these thefts have become so common. Having planters or planting shrubs helps to conceal packages from the street.

I get really aggravated with our insurance (medical) company. They keep pushing us to sign up for home delivery prescription meds. What a great idea - not!

cashs_mom 07-22-2021 11:28 AM

I haven't had trouble with Amazon since they quit using the contract drivers. When they did that I had the same problem with getting packages for people with the same house number, but one street over.

I've always thought that getting mail order prescriptions was a bad idea. I don't want prescription meds sitting in my mailbox or on the front porch just waiting for someone to take them. And what if they are misdelivered? You're out of meds and they have no idea where your refills are. It doesn't sound like a good plan to me.

RE mail order prescrips..my hubby and I have been using this option for yrs w/o mishap. The drugs are cheaper this way, the postman has only made ''mis-delivery'' twice, and it was 2 houses away with house# similar ( I wonder if carrier sees numbers backwards). To insure, you can go to USPS on line, sign up for "Informed Mail Delivery" (free). You can get email, or text message each day that mail or pkgs will be delivered to your box, with pictures of what is coming. If it is not delivered, you can report to P.O. on line. I LOVE this option..I can arrange to be home when pkgs are expected.
the P.O. has just offered digital signing and option for delivery to another address. How great is that!

So what happens if the meds are stolen by porch pirates? The insurance company won't replace them, the P.O. can't replace them, and now you're without meds until your next refill. This is an issue that needs a solid resolution in place before I take that risk.

Quiltwoman44 07-25-2021 11:19 AM

I had the same trouble with some medications needing my signature. I am usually here but didn't like that. Now they go into my mailbox down the street.
but now the mail person is putting someone else's mail in my box (the street the box is on!!) and i don't live on that street. whom ever it is just uses the wrong side of the box!! i delivered that days' mail myself!
OH I will say i now just get meds at the pharmacy rather than use my extremely expensive insurance pharmacy mail order people. hated them. I get it cheaper now too.

This happened to me, over 5 weeks before my package showed up. UPS sent me a message that my package was delivered.
USPO finally brought it to me, UPS answer was that they were hacked.

Wow! Unbelievable. He delivers it to the incorrect address and then refuses to correct his error. Tell him to put on a mask and gloves and fix his mistake *smh*

With Fed X. I always have package held at an Fed x store in our areas this works great. And as for Amazon...there are Amazon Lockers close by...so we pick up our packages there. Also pick up our packages at PO Box....that pretty much takes care of our needs.. might check if that is offered in your area. Hope this info helps. 😊

My grandson and wife both work. This was around Christmas and her dad gave them their present early because he works off and would not be home for Christmas. It was a nice grill. It was on their BACK open carport/patio. They came home from work and the grill was gone! Filed police report. Next day, because it was really getting days till Christmas she wondered why child’s jeep wasn’t in. Looked at her email. Jeep was delivered day before. Same day grill was stolen. Called police back and Fed Ex. Amazon said they would send another but child probably wouldn’t get before Christmas. Santa came though! Was delivered Christmas Eve. Police said people watching delivery trucks. Grandson lives rural and even though drive goes to back of house no one to see criminals. When they stole the large package ( jeep) they saw the brand new grill and loaded up! Dad rebought them a grill and we both the $60 lid for it for their Christmas. I can’t imagine what the grill cost dad!
