A different area - Western Australia in flood as well. If you see the word "station" in some of the pictures in the second address, it is the Australian version of a "ranch".

It's hard to imagine so much flooding but from what I can tell from internet research is that the flooding a few days ago was about the size of France and Germany combined. Since I've never been there that comparison didn't tell me much so I looked it up and found that Germany is slightly smaller than Montana and France is close to the size of Texas. So for anyone else here in America that had a hard time visualizing the devastated area, now we can.

some places in Australia are still hard to live in. it's a hard land.

I've always thought of Australians as being a tough resiliant people. This is such devastation yet the people being interviewed seem to reinforce my opinion. If anyone can pull through this it will be the Australians--good attitude, good work ethics, and one tough backbone.
This is a horrible tragedy and I'm definately not trying to minimize it any way, just wanted to say that I admire the people I've seen on the news stories.

so sorry for all the misery in Australia. I ve never been there but I always pictured AU as a rather dry country. This much water is a shock to see. sharet
