carpet advice

we have moved several pieces of furniture around and have indentations in the carpet where the legs of the old pieces used to be. Any advice on how to fix them ?

If the carpet has any type of lift/nap you can put a small piece of ice on the indentions. As the ice melts the fibers go back into shape. You should be able to fluff it w/your fingers. I've done this before and it works...

Along with the ice, you could try using a fork and gently work the fibers back up, being careful not to pull.

Have never tried this, but have read that you can hold a steam iron over the indentations and the steam will lift the fibers back up. Hold the iron up aways so you don't burn the carpet.

This was what was recommended to me as well. Except, put a wet cloth (washcloth) over the indentation and use the steam iron.

The ice trick is what I have used in the past.

Ice usually works. Good luck.
