Cataract Surgery
Just thought I'd put this out there for any of our quilting friends who have been advised to have the surgery.
I had one of my eyes done a week ago and I'm still astounded at how my vision has improved. It was absolutely painless and over in 15 minutes. I don't know why I waited ( of course I do I was terrified; it was my eyes, and my art is my soul's expression), but I'm scheduled for the other in March and can hardly wait. Be brave! I had cataract surgery on both eyes. Gosh what a difference, didn't realize I had so many wrinkles!!
Ths surgery was fast and easy, I would recomend it to anyone that needs it. Doris1334 |
I dont even wear glasses now, except when I am on the computer. What a good change. - J

ditto, here. I had my dominant eye done a couple of years ago in conjunction with my kerataconus surgery. I'm waiting for my next insurance to kick in to have the other eye done. I only wear glasses for close up work. The surgeon said that he will make my other eye 'monovision' like in contacts. that would be awesome :)

I had both eyes done a couple years ago and what a difference. The only time I have to wear glasses now is when I use the computer or read. Reading glasses are sure a lot cheaper than prescription ones. Get them at the dollar store. Anyone putting it off, don't. Well worth it.

I had both eyes done a couple of years ago, I was scared at first, but no pain, little maintenance afterwards and could see so much better. Only use cheaters to read small print.

Me too, isn't it amazing how bright, and colorful everything is. Wow!

Got mine done. No more pretty colors around the lights at night. LOL Can get out and go to Wally World at night now. Not that I really want to. LOL

I am very glad and happy for all of you that have had successful cataract surgery. I had cataract surgery done on both eyes last year, and if I could go back and undo it I would. I have a dark line in my vision on the outer edge of each eye. Was told "it's scar tissue and will fade over time" It hasn't. I still have "light halos" on a lot of things, especially headlights on cars, which cuts down on much driving at night. Still have to wear glasses,( bifocals ) and still need glasses for using the computer. At my 6 month exam after surgery, was told by the surgeon, "you must allways remember, any surgery of any kind, nothing can be guaranteed".

I had cataract surgery and stigmatism management done on both eyes this year - would I do it again? Probably but I am still adjusting - I went from seeing nothing in the distance to 20/20 for distance and nothing and I mean absolutely nothing close up. Sure - use cheater glasses - but they don't work real well - got prescription bi-focals for close up - they don't work at all!! It always feels like there is something on my eyes - they ache all the time which I'm told is pretty normal. The surgery is quick and painless but for each person it is a different experience. I cannot sew for more than 1/2 hour which makes me sad as I love to quilt. I cannot quilt on my midarm as I can't see it at all with cheaters or prescription glasses. However, driving now is great!! When going for this surgery as with all surgeries remember to ask a lot of questions. And as Sandy said "nothing is guaranteed."

My mom had cataract surgery. I'll tell you a funny story about it. Before she had the surgery she bought a new house ans we painted all the walls. She bought one five gallon bucket of paint and just told the guy she wanted white but she wanted it "warmed up but not yellow." So we start putting the paint on the walls and my sister and I are telling her it's pink and she says it is not. Mmm, okay mother but this is pink. She has the first eye done and a couple of weeks later she calls me and tells me her walls are pale pink. LOL, uhhh, yeah that's what we said mother.

It's really a piece of cake and the results are amazing ! Unfortunately, now I see wrinkles where, before, I had none and dust where there hadn't been any - lol

I'm 82 and had mine done a year ago. Got the long, middle and near vision corrected to 20-20. I do see car light halos, but I love my eyes. No glasses for anything. I can see like I was 20. Whee! Barny

Yes it is quick and painless.......however....now I need to have the other eye done and I am still not happy with the first one. I now have dry eye and get the ocasional infection in the eye that was "done". I still get halos too but I had anti glare put on my glasses and that helps with the halos. I'm unsure about getting the other eye done and won't unless it gets really bad. Everyone has a different experience.
