Finally found a use for my cats. (2). Was sandwiching my quilt yesterday. On the floors no less. While crawling around pulling here and there, cats walked in. One cat down just on one corner. Idea!!! Sat the other cat on another corner. They just sat there. Smoothing the quilt, batting and backing went much faster. Don't know why I have not used weights of some type in the past. Now the question is: Do I get weights, or use the cats.

Love it. My 15-pounder would do the trick.

For one second there I thought you were going to say you used them for batting.

Hey, you just gave me an idea for my big boy, Carmello!! (20 pounds)
This post made me crack up!!!!!!! Thanks for the giggle :D:D

LOL

mine insists on making sure the quilt is comfortable - even when it's just the quilt top on the floor so I can take a picture of it.

Glassquilt 08-06-2011 03:36 AM

And they're probably thinking "It took her long enough to put our quilt on the floor for us."

mimom 08-06-2011 03:41 AM

love this, mine keeps the quilt from sliding off the end of the table when I'm FMQ

mmdquilts 08-06-2011 04:03 AM

It isn't a quilt until it's been slept on by a cat!!!

GingerK 08-06-2011 04:32 AM

I just wish mine would stop examining the batting when I have it 'relaxing' on the spare bed. Those claws can pick up a lot of batting during the removal process!!

bearisgray 08-06-2011 04:33 AM

Now - if they would just stay put until YOU were done - - -
:) :)

I have two quilt huggers too. They like to find the fabric left on the bed and add new fibre to the mix or wrinkles. I would not trade them for the world. They have been with me longer than two husbands.

 that's funny!

This post made me giggle. My 3 fur babies help all the time.

Zappycat 08-06-2011 05:15 AM

ahhhh...the BEST weights ever! How cute!!

NCquilter 08-06-2011 05:44 AM

No use in finding/buying weights when you already have two. LOL I've used my dog Roxie and some phone books to help keep the corners down

zennia 08-06-2011 06:02 AM

Great idea. My cats love to help me. Think I can give themsomething to do now.

Chicca 08-06-2011 06:46 AM

My 25 pound Chicca loves to help with all parts of the quilting. Only, she does not stay put in one section...she moves to all sections and rolls around until she finds the perfect spot and it is really hard to make her move! LOL.

I think cats put down roots when they don't want to be moved.

IAmCatOwned 08-06-2011 10:48 AM

That's great! Mine would never settle for an edge though. They want to be in the center of the quilt.

amma 08-06-2011 01:32 PM

LMBO I am glad to hear they were "helping" and not "hindering" :D:D:D
