We just adopted our kitten about a week ago. He is adjusting well. Now the weather is a bit cooler we wanted to open the house up. The kitten will be indoors all the time. However, We have a screened in pool. This morning is the first day we have opened the doors and allowed him to come out here. So far he is doing well. He has sniffed the water and then backed off.

Anyone else allow their sweet kitty in the screen porches? :-D

And if they decide to climb a screen when heavy, holes are left.

I hope you have let your cat keep all his claws? It's cruel to amputate the end joint of their toes.

I have a screened porch right off the kitchen. My husband, when he was alive, and the cats use it more than I do. One of the cats gets very Meowy if I don't open the door and let her out. When it gets too cold to let them out it takes them a few days to get adjusted to having to stay in the house.
Before I was married, the apt. I lived in had a balcony that I screened in. I would leave the bedroom screen out so the cats could go in and out while I was at work. Took down the screen when I moved.

If you give him something up high to set on, they are less likely to climb the screen. My folks back porch has the lower area closed in with wood (too many of us kids put our toes through the bottom growing up, lol) My sisters cat spends most of the day defending the porch from maurading squirrels.

Teddi was a screen hanger model and she did not do it at the FL rental we had when she was young. She sat on a barstool a lot!

I know that, and have been thinking of getting something like hardware cloth to screen in my back covered patio. It's not very wide, but am trying to draw up dividers that I could fasten the hardware cloth to and still wouldn't clash with the straight lines all around the back. Might even paint it to match the house.
But in any case, the back is hidden from all, front, sides and back, so I can do anything I want to it.

We have to divide the time on the porch between the dog and the cats. When it's the dog's time the cats are waiting at the door to get back on the porch.
