Caves - the other passion
Some wonder why I like to go caving. There are many reasons. If you view this slide show, you'll see a part of the world most people never see. I've been in many of these caves in France, Germany, Switzerland and the United States. The photographers spare us the agony of the tight places, but not the mud. When I viewed this, I saw several potential landscape quilts looking back at me. Unfortunately, many of the ice caves in Kentucky have melted in the last 25 years, as I imagine, have many of the others around the world.

Beautiful!

Absolutely breathtaking. My DH and I like to hike and dive (scuba), however if the opportunity arose, I think I would gladly go caving.

Thanks so much. I enjoyed going caving this way since I am claustrophobic.

I live in a cave area; not too far from Cold Water Cave. We have a small cave just up the road and when I first went into it I realized I was claustrophobic. I'm okay in elevators and airplanes, but being in a cave just was not my thing. Hope the video has downloaded and I can watch it now. Thanks for sharing.

The throat is still a little sore, but the breathing is so much better, thanks. I'll be going back to work on Monday, quilt time is just about over.
For those of you who are interested in finding a group of cavers, go to caves.org the home of the National Speleological Society, and link to the grotto nearest you. Cavers are a diverse bunch, and will welcome you to their meetings. Most grottos have guest gear and would be happy to take you underground. Remember, that within the NSS is the Speleo Arts section, which includes fiber arts, i.e. quilting. |
