Share your shelter or rescue pets!

My 5 lb boy dog is celebrating the second anniversary of his "Alive Day." The shelter tried to talk me out of it due to his many health problems. Turns out he didn't have any of them. He does have one they failed to list: deafness. He thinks his name is Two Hands Clapping.

Now, I'm in the market for a pound kitty.

Edit: Eek! I posted the big pic. Sorry. :0/

Both of my cats are rescues. Trouble (the gray one) is 6 years old, and Rebel (a.k.a. Fat Boy  ) is 5 years old. We got both of them as kittens.
We'll get a dog someday, and plan to also get a rescue.
Thanks for starting this thread. :D

I don't have a photo close by but 2 of my dogs were dump dogs and one was with child. She had 5 pups and we kept 2.
Our cat was dumped also and she was with child and I kept 1 of them. Soooo all our pets are rescue pets. They make the best pets!

We adopted 2 of our kitties from the shelter as kittens. The 3rd was headed to the shelter if the owner couldn't find a home... so I guess I can count that as a rescue, too. Love love love all three of them: Milo, Velcro, and Loki.

Oh, we adopted Velcro's brother, Amos, too... but he was a very sick kitten and died a week after we brought him home. That was a sad time.

Right now we only have one dog. He stays outside where he can run and chase squirrels. They torment him to no end. He adopted us, just showed up here about a year ago. We tried unsuccessfully to find his former owner. We fenced in our property to keep him safe. I tried to bring him inside for a while, but he would rather be outside. His name is Jake.
He loves the water coming out of the hose and will chase it as long as it is moving. He runs and jumps like a deer....he is really funny to watch!
He is a big dog now, about 65#.

So, off to the Vet's we went & she is being treated for it now. Today she is much better & we have just fallen head over heals in "LOVE" with her!! Her name is Rose & she weigh's in at a whopping 6 lbs. Enjoy!!

My avatar is the picture of our rescue pet. We adopted him off of death row two years ago and we absolutely adore him. Most of our pets over the past 20 years have been rescue animals including dogs and birds. They seem to know that you rescued them and are so grateful.

One of my cats is from the Humane Society. The other 2 I rescued from my daughter`s farm. When they moved in there were a whole slew of adult cats and sickly kittens. I took two of the kittens to the vet`s and started feeding them a really good cat food. The poor things were starving.

My avatar, Chloe is a shelter rescue. She doesn't like other cats and the shelter had so many cats and kittens that she was getting stressed just being near them. There was no place to put her or any other cat who hated other cats off by themselves. She wouldn't eat much, and just was stressed when I got her. But she held on to me when I held her and she purrred in my ear. She rolled on her back in the cage and looked at me. The woman working that day said she had never seen her do that to anyone before. OK, maybe she was telling a story to get me to adopt her. Well, I only went to look. Chloe was the second cage I looked in in the lobby of the shelter. I never made it into the two "cat" rooms! She was soo tiny and skinny. I didn't want another long hair cat. But sometimes the universe surprises us and we get what we need instead. She needed peace and quiet without other cats, and I needed a cat to love after my beloved Sasha passed away. I think we both got what we wanted. A sweeter cat I have never met. And she is a people cat, too. My first two cats were not, skittish and would not come out when people visited. But Chloe, once eating properly, filled out, her coat is beautiful, and she greets everyone who comes to the house. She is my little sweetie.
