Chainsaw Competition - lemonade from lemons.

The city of Craig, Colorado, had a number of cottonwood trees in the City Park that were diseased and had to be cut down. Someone had the brilliant idea to have a chainsaw sculpture contest. The results are amazing.

Thanks so much for sharing. I lived in Craig, Colorado about 37 years and played with my kids in that park.

Thanks for posting! There certainly are some very talented artists that can use a chainsaw. I love the one of the children reaching to touch hands. My favorite is the eagle on one side and the tribute to the American soldiers on the other. That one should have a special place, like on the lawn close to Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC; or even better yet, a new Memorial for all the guys and gals that service these last 10 years. All are beautiful works! Thanks for sharing!

Love the giraffes! Thanks for the look!

Awesome what some people can do with lemons isn't it? They are really good.

katesnanna 03-28-2012 04:08 AM

These are fabulous. We saw the same thing in a park in Victoria, here in Australia. This is far more preferable than the trees just being cut down. Thank you for sharing.

Just amazing. I love the way they found a way to "save" the trees. What a fun spot that must be. Thanks so much for sharing.

Wow! Impressive work. Way better than knitting sweaters for the trunks which was done in Sammamish, WA. Not kidding! Some women got together and knitted tube sweaters to fit on the tree trunks. AUGH! How about knitting for the homeless...I'm just sayin'.

I think they're going to leave them in the park - if you'll notice the carvings are all still rooted in the ground.

misseva 03-28-2012 12:50 PM

All that with chainsaws???? Wow - what talent.

harvsstuff 03-28-2012 01:09 PM

They are beautiful. I'm 71 and have my one chainsaw. The only rule I have is stay away from me
when I am using it.

Sweeterthanwine 03-28-2012 01:11 PM

Some very talented people there.

LOVE WHAT THEY DID WITH THE TREES. Everyone has a creative talent and theirs involve a power tool.(chain saw).
The trees are now such works of art. Makes you glad that they share their talent.
Thanks for sharing the site with us.
