Chance to put woman on $20 bill...

There's a campaign that's been started to put the face of a woman on the US $20 bill by the year 2020 (which will be the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in the U.S.)

http://www.womenon20s.org/

You will have a chance to select three women candidates & then you will be contacted later when it comes down to their final "election". Then a petition will be sent.

Its a very interesting idea. The U.S. Mint put Susan B. Anthony & Sacajawea on $1 coins (too much like size of a quarter) & those went nowhere but $20.00 bills might go everywhere.

I think a more appropriate tribute to women is equal pay for equal work myself.

I wish we had a "like" button on this board because I would "like" your post,Tartan!!

Oh, gosh. So many women come to mind. Just three? But I still like our current face of this bill. Guess that's why they came up with other forms of currency to include others who have formed our country. Color me torn.

Absolutely!! Been waiting a loooonnnnngggggg time for that!!

I think they should leave the $20 bill alone. Do people realize how much it would cost the American Tax Payer to do this? Money that could be used for the good of the people.

I like the idea of putting a woman on the $20. I was in a group recently that did not know who Susan B. Anthony or Sacajawea were :(

And I vote for equal pay for equal work!

I love this board = had not heard about this campaign but will be sending the link to all my friends.

Thank you for posting about it!

Unfortunately, putting their face on a bill will not actually teach anyone who they are. Many. many people cannot name who is on bills today. Not a money problem, that's a teaching / learning problem.

In AZ, we have a lot of gas machines that accept bills, they would all have to be re-configured to accept the new bills. I say leave it alone.

I'm afraid I agree with you that education is the key, not the face. And the cost to the public is just not worth the change. I'd rather just forget this and celebrate women with equal pay.........I am NOT for redoing the $20 bill. I don't think too many would benefit from it and in a few years, nobody would care at all.......

This was my first thought too. If the government wants to spend millions of dollars there are thousands of better causes to invest in. Besides when was the last time you all checked out the art work on a bill before you paid for your purchases??

I feel it is just another waste of tax payers money. Why is it that they can come up with so many ideas for waste, but nothing for fixing things??? They already changed our money to stop counterfeiters & that didn't work.

Why so many ideas? Because they have to do something to make it look like they actually earn their salaries. And really if they fixed things, they might be out of their own job. Just sayin'.

Now I'll go vote for a woman on the $20. They'll spend the money they/we don't have one way or another.

That would be a more appropriate use of time and money.

lildinks2013 03-23-2015 02:59 AM

I say leave it all alone no need for this senseless change which will only cost us taxpayers more than its worth. PPl wont care who's on the bill as long as they have it too spend.

Yooper32 03-23-2015 05:35 AM

Are women so needy that we really NEED this? I say no.

mumzer 03-23-2015 07:07 AM

I AGREE Stop all unnecessary spending.

mumzer 03-23-2015 07:12 AM

I'm with you on this one. What a waste of $$

mumzer 03-23-2015 07:13 AM

LOL I'm with you girl.
