I'm taking a little break from quilting, and painting some more welcome signs for the local animal shelter's rummage sale. Thanks for checking them out.

Those are great! Bet they will be popular auction items!! Just goes to prove that quilting is an artistic talent.

My two hobbies that have persisted through the years are painting and sewing. I like to alternate between the two, but it has been a while since I have painted. Sewing takes a lot of time.

Great job, beautiful signs.

WOW, you are very artistic. I haven't painted anything since college in 1970.

annette1952 10-09-2015 07:35 AM

Beautiful! I would love to paint but I don't have that talent. I took an oil painting class years ago thinking it would help but it didn't. I admire people that can paint

JanieH 10-09-2015 11:41 AM

WOW! Those are gorgeous!

slbram17 10-09-2015 02:50 PM

I really appreciate all of you who checked out my signs and took the time to comment. I do like to paint, but it is always a good thing to get your feedback. Hugs to all of you.

Hope so. It is a very busy sale. I have been volunteering at the twice a year sale for about three years now.

They are not old boards, just wood that has been cut specifically for painting or decorating. I paint with a brownish paint first, then apply elmers glue when dry. Let the glue dry, then paint another lighter cover over the dried glue, which causes the crackle finish. After that, I usually apply a watered down paint to tint.
