Cheers!

Happy New Year to all the talented people on this board! Does anyone else have special meals for New Years Day? I have black-eyed peas and cornbread ready(I think that is for prosperity?). I have been told that you must have cabbage also, but I'm not about to brave this frigid weather to drive 25 miles to the grocery store. Just a quiet day at home!

I have chicken wings marinating, crab leg clusters and lobster tails to defrost, and all the fixings to make egg rolls. Not sure how this combo became tradition, but it's what they always say they want. oh....can't forget to make the Rotel and Velveeta dip. Grazing and football is on the agenda!!

No traditional meal here, just going to fix beef stew in the crockpot and serve over noodles.

Always black-eyed peas and cabbage, and then whatever else we want. Today will be Meatballs and rice in Cream of MR soup, Bread Pudding, Chicken & Sausage Gumbo and a good salad.

Happy New Year to all of you!!!!

Pork and sauerkraut! I don't think I've missed a New Year's Day with P & S ever!

Black eyed peas, greens.....any of them i.e. turnips, mustard, collards (my favorite) or cabbage. Potato salad, fried hog jowl or other meat of choice, field peas (from sister) and of course a crusty cornbread. Used to serve sweet tea, now we drink water...oh, and left over desserts from Christmas Dinner.

Legend says that you will get a dollar for each blackeyed pea you eat and the greens represent green money (folding money)...have to brag and say mine all turned out good this year, especially the cornbread.
