Looks like some special wee one(s) needs a chef's hat for Christmas!

Ask Mr. Google .... how to make a chef's hat for a child ...
I just did and there are lots of possibilities for you to check out.
I'm sure you will find one that will be to your liking.
Maybe several! :)

This is very simple: Cut out approx. 24 inch circle and 23" x 6 1/2 inch wide strip of fabric for the band. To make the hat taller, make the circle larger.
Fold over the band in half length wise and stitch together now it should be 23 1/2 inches x 3 1/4 inches wide. Starting at the seam line on the band - gather the circle at 1/2 inch intervals along the band until your have it all fitted along the raw edge, then sew up the seam to attach the top hat onto the band, and if you like can sew a binding onto the inside to cover up the raw edges of the chef's hat. I hope this helps you out.

I just bought one at Hobby Lobby. I think it was about $3 or $4.

Hello, emt2004. d.rickman gives some good suggestions. Allow me to add a few. I don't sew the band together until I have sewn one side on, then I sew the other side to cover up the gathering. Also, to make gathering easy, I zig-zag over a piece of shoestring elastic. Then you can just pull it to gather. Sew the band on and cut the elastic loose to use again. Iron up 1/4 inch on the raw edge of the band and sew it over the gathering. I usually leave about 2" of the band to overlap using velcro to close the hat. Have fun! (I have made these for every child in our church!)

My greatgrands love to cook and be in the kitchen. Last year I made them each an apron. For Christmas this year, I made them each a placemat. These chef's hats will be such fun. I have my circles cut, gathered and ready to cut the band. Thanks for the great idea. Merry Christmas.

I've made this pattern several times. Easy and adjustable.
