Child's Apron
 

Bought these aprons at Michaels and now am wondering if they will fit. Grand daughters are 3 and 5(almost 6) and a little on the "chubby" side. The package says "One Size Fits Most" and is 19 in X 12.5 inches. It's just a little beige
canvas style apron. These are all I could find; no in between, just Child and Adult sizes. Need some help here, please. Anyone with any experience on aprons for little ones? I will embroidery something cute on them so don't want to waste thread and time if they don't fit. Thanks.

Or you could get their mom to measure them around their waist while they sleep...

I think that sounds a little small.. but then it depends on the size of the kids. I just finished 2 aprons for my great nieces. The oldest is 6 and younger is almost 3.. The bigger one is 23" from top to bottom and I am sure the bottom was close to 18" wide The smaller one was about 19" from top to bottom. But I made them big so there would be room to grow into them

I would second the suggestions you received. If you can sew ruffles on them that would be very cute. My sis used the tape measure to get me a good idea on size

Remember the apron really only needs to cover the front of the child, not all the way around. Hence the long ties.

Thanks for responses. Will see if their mom can measure them and let me know. I did go ahead and embroidery on the youngest one's apron and it turned out really cute; just hope it will fit. I know it doesn't fit like a dress.

I made a couple child aprons for my twin niece and nephew they were 5 and the aprons worked great. If you held a ruler across your from 12 inches is quite a bit.

I saw a cute pattern for a child's apron made from a hot pad for the breast part and a nice tea towel that matched for the bottom. It was connected with a coordinating long skinny piece for the ties and to hold the top and bottom together, just one long piece. Quick and easy and very cute.
