Thanks Laura! Interesting stuff. I thought this was really amazing:

Carlson Wade in his book Bee Pollen and Your Health, says you can live off of 22 grams or so and if one had nothing else, you could survive with that. (That would be a maintenance dose, I believe.) It's possible as bee pollen has every vitamin, amino acid, mineral, and enzyme necessary to sustain life.

I think the only dangerous thing with the "chinese" bee pollen your friend is talking about is that she may be taking this: http://www.amazon.com/Zi-Xiu-Tang-60...7813941&sr=8-1 which is a Chinese product containing Bee Pollen. However, several of the ingredients are various types of laxatives so it is probably good for weight loss but not necessarily healthy compared to just bee pollen.

I do take bee pollen, but under supervision from my DR. It cleans you out, tastes pretty good and in the 2 years I've taken it haven't really had a cold or major illness. I just use it as a mineral supplement. As for the weightloss, you have to do it the old fashioned way - diet and exercise.

just because it's "NATURAL" does not mean it is safe.

that's right, remember arsenic is all natural, as are poison mushrooms! :-(

That's so funny...one of the hockey dad's on my daughter's team used to make his son drink it thinking he would turn into Wayne Gretzsky...no luck!!!

Bee pollen is in fact a good contributor to weight loss since it speeds up your metabolism, making your body burn more calories and it also works as an appetite suppresant. However, chineese bee pollen is said to often contain contaminants due to their high pupulation and pollution.
