Christmas Ideas for Teenagers
 

I am looking for Christmas gift ideas for 6 teenagers. I have 2 kids and 4 step-children. Wanting to make items from scratch. for the girls b-day's i made aprons and they loved them. not sure on what to do for the boys.

Age ranges from 8, 16 and 19

For the girls, how about those cute fabric baskets with some nail polish and emery boards in them. For the boys, why not jean material aprons for them. They can cook too. There are always pillows and fleece blanket that come in handy. JoAnn's always has a great assortment of printed fleece and you can often get it on sale.

I always make them a pillowcase. I am going to make a mug rug for a friend's son who graduated with honors from college.

How about pillowcases? I find it hard to buy masculine print pillowcases so use my stash and make for the boys. Girl prints are so much easier to find. Good luck with your projects.

:) Someone here on QB posted a pattern for a small neck pillow, and then you could make mug rugs to give with a filled mug or little bags of various sorts or the above mentioned fabric boxes filled with things -- or a fleece throw as boys like soft and cuddly too!!

I made a rag quilt for my great niece and all the teenage boys in the family promptly asked for one for them. I did two layers flannel and backed with Minky they loved them Even my 20 something nephews are asking for them now.

Messenger bags for lap tops or covers for tablets/Ipads. I made these a few years ago for birthdays and they were well received.

I recommend you check out Craftsy. They have hundreds of free patterns and more patterns the you would pay for, most of which are downloadable (instant gratification <lol>). There are cute tote and purse patterns, wallets, notebook covers, zipper pouches, "ditty" bags, etc. If they travel, you can make them a set that includes a ditty bag, luggage tags, eye covering, tissue holder, etc.

If they have automobiles, you could make them a steering wheel cover and matching trash bag.

I made this lunch bag for myself, but found it a little small, so am going to alter the pattern slightly. Then, my 7 year old granddaughter has claimed it for herself.

My grandkids are in sports so every year I try to make them a new pillow case with either a sports team they like or with fabric of the sports they play. They seem to like getting new pillow cases.

I personally would do the fleece. I have five 2 girls and three boys ranging 12-21. I'm going to do the fleece tie blankets and probably headphones with them. My kids love headphone or ear buds they lose them often so they come in handy. Thanks for the idea, I was wondering what I was going to do this year... It's kinda tight!

Anything that will hold cash or a gift card. Works every time!

how about pajama pants, all the kids wear them and love them, fleece is cheap and easy to sew and they don't necessarily need to be fitted, oversized is more comfortable.

I made fabric covered notebooks for our "grands" and they really liked them. Easy to find fabrics that are gender friendly. Lots of free patterns on the internet.

I have made pillowcases for the guys and bags for all the girls. The love them all.

messenger bags are good for everyone. For kids I will use a basic fabric for the outside (denim is always good). I line it with something that works for that particular kid. If he likes the outdoors, I would use fishing fabric or camo fabric. If they are video kids, I would use a star wars or marvel fabric, etc. This way they are unique (but easy on you!). With older kids I have often added a bit of mesh on the side to hold a water bottle.

for guys I've done pj bottoms and buy a t shirt to match and sew on a coordinating pocket.
all this matches the pillowcase of course. good for girls too.
