I started a tradition for my grandkids. I covered a box with fabric with their names embroidered on it. I give them an ornament each year and they keep their own in their own box. When they leave home they will have a head start on their own decorations.

Santa's elves come the week before Christmas to check on the kids and if the kids have been good they leave candy canes on the tree. The candy canes are the clue to Santa on Christmas to leave presents.

Each year I buy the kids a Hallmark Christmas ornament. They are now 28 and 37 and they still get their ornaments. I did this so that when they married they had a box of ornaments with memories for their own Christmas trees.
