Comfortable Shoes for Travel
My sister and I are going to Europe for 10 days, and I am in need of a comfortable pair of shoes to take with me. Can you recommend any? Thanks!

Birkenstocks if you have time to break them in
Hoka Ecco |
Sketchers are excellent.

My SIL says the search for comfortable shoes is like searching for the holy grail! I had Easy Spirit shoes on a trip to Europe a few years ago, and they were great for me. I also like Keens, but my old reliable sneakers - Asics - seem better for long walks these days.

Last year I tried Hoka sneakers for the first time. Pricey, but SO much more comfortable than the New Balance I've previously worn. I also like Birkenstocks, although they are not for everyone.
For a nicer looking shoe, I wear Clarks. I long ago got rid of all pumps and cute shoes. I'm all about comfort and functionality these days. |
Fabricgator, I purchased the Z-coil tennis shoe like 4 or 5 years ago and at that time they were pricey to me, but such a good walking shoe at $81.00, I have never regretted that purchase. They are amazingly comfortable to walk in with the spring on the heel. I was shocked to go to the web site now and find that, that price now is up to $259.00!! Out of curiosity you could still go to http://z-coil.com and checked them out, but that price sure blew me away! Super comfortable shoes and I still wear them when I have to go somewhere and walk all day.

I walk 4-5 miles 3-4 times a week and have found Hoka provide excellent stability and, for me, are so much more comfortable than ASICS and Sketchers. I've also discovered that quality socks help to avoid blisters and add cushion/comfort - I like the Balega blister resist socks. If you consider these prepare to spend $$$ - they are very pricey but worth it.

I wear Nurse Mates Align shoes every day!

Keen. :) They make a wide variety of styles and are super comfy.

Comfortable shoes depend on the shape of your foot. All brands are not designed to fit all feet. Visit some upscale shoe stores and try one shoes. Talk to salespeople. Have your feet measured. Get something that fits well and make sure to wear it plenty of times before you travel.
I have very hard-to-fit feet and have suffered many blisters, especially on trips. Take blister treatment just in case. |
