My computer is jinxed!! I was trying to do some searches yest. and when I had the URL in the window it would decide I needed to buy purple paint. I was looking for a site to show the replacement of an alternator for a mercury. It did this over and over with just weird sites that had no relation to what I typed. Frequently when it showed the right site I would click on that link and again off to some place strange. After I shut down the internet and had a file open I kept getting a site pop up that was not asked for. Does this shound like a virus? I went to tools and saw that Bing had been added as a search engine. I deleted that and continue to have issues.

I HATE Bing as the search engine...it'll do that to you. When you eliminate it do a clean-out of the history and temp files. Then a virus scan and restart.

I would do a virus scan and also a scan for malware. If you don't have it, download malwarebytes and scan your computer. It is a free program and works really good.

Sorry, it sounds like you have some sort of a virus :( there are so many unscrupulous sites out there...

and turn off Bing - that is MAJOR irritation... and does just what you are describing - accidentally mouse over a highlighted word and boom Bing pops something up....
