Cord Free Iron

At least 10 years ago I bought a GE Cord Free Iron from Walmart. Over the years I have not used it very much, but when I did, it came in handy - close to my sewing machine, automatic shut off, etc. I used it for a while about three months ago and then set it aside. I went to use it last week and it was dead. Power gets to the base, but does not re-heat the iron. I tried different plugs, jiggled it. turned it off and back on and nothing. GE customer service was no help as it was out of warranty. They don't make them any more and a replacement (another brand) runs $60 to $80. Anyone had this problem and solved it???

I had one. It would never get hot enough and would not stay hot/warm long enough. I settled the problem by "filing" the cordless and buying an inexpensive iron that shut itself off and filled my "hot" and "staying hot" needs.

I hope you find an answer for your iron. I despise it when I have something that really works for me; it quits working; and I hit the corporate "We're sorry, but ...." wall. Good luck.
