I am considering buying a counter top rotisserie (remember the "set it and forget it"). My friend has one and it cooks wonderful whole chickens. Problem is, I already have lots of things that I thought was a good idea at the time. So...........do any of you have counter top rotisserie ovens? what kind? do you like it? would you recommend my getting one?
Thanks, Jo Ann |
Mine is in the attic. I loved it, but it was a dog to clean.
That's what I was going say. No fun to clean.
I never used the one I was given after the first time, it was waaay to difficult to clean :(
I gave it away, and it has been regifted many more times LOL |
I donated mine also!

Mine is a George Forman rotisserie. I love it. I use it every couple of weeks. My main use for it is whole chickens. My family loves them.
I love my "set it and forget it" rotisserie! It is a bit of a bear to clean , but that isn't the mmain problem with it. They are bigger than you would think and take up a lot of counter space. I don't use it enough to justify moving other items (toaster, coffee maker, etc) so min eis usually in my pantry closet. It's a bit heavy too - so unless hubby is around to lift it out for me, whatever I'm cooking just goes in the oven. If you have counter space to give it a permanent home it might be a good item for you.

I bought a large size one, it can bake a turkey or 3 chickens. I have used it a total of 4 times. I should use it more but sometimes it is more work to get it out of the garage (no way it can fit on my counter, I use it outside on the counter to the window) than to just use my oven. The times I have used it, it was too hot to run the oven in the house. This year we never had a summer until this past monday. It's over 90 now.

I had one but never used it. I now use the Nuwave oven and love it I no longer use my oven other than cakes. It cooks a whole frozen turkey in the same time it takes to cook a frozen one!

Mine was just too large for the counter and too hard to store.

Our local grocery store has whole rotisserie chickens for $5.99 every day. I'd rather do that than clean and store another appliance.
I have the brand you mentioned, but there's only the 2 of us,so gave it to our DD. They use it often.Of course, SIL does the clean up :-)
I use a large crock pot to cook whole chickens. Just rub the chicken with whatever you like, place on top of potatoes that are wrapped in foil and cook for hours. Delicious.
We have a Showtime and love it. We don't use it real often, but everything we've ever cooked in it was fantastic. Clean-up a lil hassle, but really not that bad. We line the drip pan with foil and this helps. We always cook our turkeys in this. It'll hold up to about 14 lb. Absolutely THE BEST turkey you will ever eat. You have to inject turkey the day before and store in frig. OMG, can't wait til Thanksgiving!

I have a Ronco Jr. and we love it. I have cooked chicken and pork roast in mine and was very happy with the results. I agree they are a pain to clean, but Awesome cleaner makes it a lot easier.

I have the "set it and forget it"..I use it a lot. Actually, I think it is time for a new one..she is looking a little rough. My daughter is always handing me a oven stuffer roaster to make for her. I have made prime rib in it and fish, even ribs. Love it! I like kitchen gadgets!
I had the one set and forget I gave it to my son. TOO big for the counter and man a buger bear to clean It's cheaper to bake it in the oven or buy one all ready baked at the grocery store. I hated spending an hour to clean it after using it.
I have the Ron co, love it, I have never gotten that same taste cooking any other way. Made a cover for it and it sets on the counter top. Would buy again. I line it with foil for easy cleaning.
I have the Showtime, gifted to me by my sister. I use it a lot. We love wings and they cook up in no time. Throw everything in dishwasher and wipe off the outside glass. Before I would buy a new one I would shop the Goodwill or Thrift store.
we have the showtime large size. We use it all the time.Try it with turkey legs. They come out just like the fair ones. after cooking throw the pieces in a sink of soapy water to soak for easy cleaning. otherwise cleanup can be a pain
I had one a few years back and it did do great chicken but as everyone else stated clean up was no fun. I think that we gave it away when we moved the last time.
I have one, the one the guy sells on TV.
I love it!! Clean up isn't that bad, just before it's done cooking, runs a sink full of really hot water, put the "spit" and drip pan it there ( after you dispose of the fat drippings) let it soak while you have dinner and use a scrubby pad on it. I place those parts in the dishwasher after that too. I let the oven itself cool a bit the spray it with Dawn Powerdisolver and scrub and rinse well. |
we used it alot when we first got it. Love the chicken in it and baked potatoes. But now when we want a rotisier (sp) chicken, we buy one at Sam's club!
I have the "Set It and Forget it" one and it works great. That said, it is so much easier to pick up one at the deli already prepared. Think of how many chickens you could buy before you would pay for a rotesserie oven. :)
We love ours. We also love Sams. I can get three meals from a Sams chicken. There is only the two of us. If I am out I will stop by Sams,if home all day I make my own.
