I heard about this on the news earlier today and just cried! What a beautiful story and sadly a story that is rare these days. God bless their family and friends during this time of loss.

Am I the only one who wonders why he was driving at age 94, if he couldn't drive safely?

"He was facing pending action by the Iowa Department of Transportation to have his license removed, but citing privacy concerns, said he could release no additional details on what prompted that action".

His driving cost 2 lives, thank goodness no one else was seriously hurt.

so wonderful that the icu nursing staff allowed them to be together and did not get caught up in what is "normal" or "the rules" of the unit!!!! what a truly beautiful love story!

Lets not taint such a beautiful love story - some 94 year olds are good to go. You are right in that luckily no one else was seriously hurt....It was their time to "go" and how wonderful they could go together!!! My heart goes out to the family and I have drawn inspiration from their love story - My DH and I would have to be almost 100 to reach the 72 year mark!! We laughed on our 25th wedding anniversary - we turned 50 and had been married 25 years (half our lives!!!) we are only 5 days apart in age and we celebrate his birthday on nov 16th our anniversary on the 17th and my birthday on the 21st!! We will soon be married 32 years!!! God love him for putting up with me lol We are also close and I cant imagine living without him!!!

It was so great of the nursing staff to allow them to be together in ICU - you dont see that very often. The story brought tears to my eyes!!!

Thanks for sharing!!!
