Polyester batting makes great Swiffer sheets. Picks up more than a store bought sheets. Cotton is good to but works best on polishing wood floors. I wet the polyester before putting on my swiffer if I need to mop also. No sweeping required! A spray bottle of water with a touch of cleaner is handy to have hanging off your back pocket. The polyester is ruff enough to scrub but not scratch most floor surfaces. I also use batting when dusting the walls and ceiling fans.

Free motion practice pieces can be used for cleaning rags. I cut them in 12x12 squares and put a stack in the garage and in the laundry room. Dispose or wash if you need too, they are plentiful here so we trash them after use.

I also use poly batting when ripping stitches out, those loose threads that seem to stick to the quilt top will stick to the poly batting when you rub it across the quilt top, this comes in real hand when I error on the longarm. After ripping the stitches and running a fine bristle hair brush over the quilt to pull out cut stitches I then take a piece of poly batting and run over the "infected" area. All the threads stick to the batting!

Poly batting is great for dusting also, no spray or water needed just plain old poly batting, dust stick right to it.

One more tip that has nothing to do with batting. I have computer mouse pad that is 10 years old. I take a piece of my favorite fabric and recover it every now and again. Cut a piece of fabric or piece some together larger than your mouse pad. spray pad with basting spray, layer on fabric. Set your sewing machine to a large stitch, lay your mouse pad face down, stitch 1/4 seam allowance around the edge, trim with pinking sheers. When its ugly and worn out the large stitches make it easy to remove and recover again. We always seem to have an abundance of free mouse pads laying around with company names on them, I cover them with fabric and make coasters and mug rugs out of them using this method. When I get tired of them I can easily change the look by putting on new fabric.
