CPAP Fleece hose covers and strap pattern
 

Any one have patterns or know of a link to CPAP hose covers or fleece straps? I need to make some and would be great if there was a pattern already out there I could use.

I don't have a pattern but I like the idea. In the winter my CPap has lots of condensation because of the humidity level I need it at. Hmmm!

If anyone finds these, please post--I could use them, too!

I have just done a search CPAP hose cover - most instructions are, "measure the length of the hose and the diameter of the hose add 1" to the diameter and sew into a tube. Turn inside out and slip hose into tube.

I just measured mine and my husbands C-Pap tubes, cut some flannel the same length about 4" wide, then sewed up the side to form a tube and slipped the hoses into it. It really works great for keeping the condensation from forming and getting up our noses.

My husband's came with a cover for the tube to take care of condensation. It was made out of a knit like t-shirt material. You just slipped it on. There were replacements that he got through the medical supply place where he got his machine. If you google tube covers for cpap machine you'll get a lot of options from different suppliers.

I just cut to fit and hand-sewed it in place. I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to make a pattern, but it was just as easy for me to "cut and paste" since I just needed it of mine.

What about using Velcro to close the seam. Seems it would be easier to remove and replace?

The last cpap hose cover I had, at the ends it had a 3 inch finished slit. At the top of the slit there was hook and loop tape on either side, you basically tightened it using the tape to keep it on the fitting on the end of the hose. Checked ebay and not seeing one like it. I will try looking at Etsy and Pinterest.

Not enough coffee yet this morning. I read the thread title and the couple of posts thinking the second letter in CPAP was an R!

There is ribbed knit tubing widely available that would work for this purpose. All you would do is cut off a length and slip it over the hose. You can probably find it in a well-stocked pharmacy in the area of the bandages. Here is a link to it on Amazon:

It is very stretchy and one use for it, I think, is to cover casts.

This type of stockinette comes in different sizes and strengths. There is a compression version, for example, that might be more stable for your purpose.

CPAP warning! I am appalled to even share this, but think I should. After soaking my cpap hose recently I accidently banged it against the counter and about died when I saw something fall out of the tube. I was a spider and a large clump of what I have to assume were eggs. I have been using a cpap for about 10 years now and have never heard of such a thing. In the morning, I now store my nose & head piece in a knee high secured with a rubberband. This really scared the you know what out of me thinking about what would have happened if I had not washed my hose and tank out that day.

OMIGODOMIGODOHNONONONO!!!!!! I will NEVER get to sleep tonight, now! :shock::shock: (there is no icon for screaming in horror!) I always just leave my apparatus lying in my unmade bed, just me here after all. And I don't clean the tube with a brush but every other day. Whadda ya wanna bet I'll be more meticulous than ever now. Got shivers all over!!!!
Just killed a dang spider running like mad to get away from me under the refrig; I live in the country, on a farm, almost in the pasture, in a 200 year old cottage....spiders and other creepy crawly things are a fact of life. BUT NOT IN MY NOSE!!!

Here is what my face strap covers look like. They are about 5 or 6" x 2.5" and are made of a poly blend fabric; I'd prefer something flannel, perhaps. I bought mine from ResMed for about $10, but they'd be so easy to make.

ACK! Just cleaned mine out after reading this!

I made my own. Used fleese, put a zipper in it and a velcro closure at the top. I will see if I can find my "pattern". Works great. Ellen

Running to check mine.....omg I hate spiders!

OMG! Liberty med people told me not to wash my heated hose! only wash the nose pillows and harness! replace them and the filter very 2 months. My plan replaces the hose every 6 mos. I think I have a pack of knee highs, good idea!
I'm gonna have nightmares too!

I forgot to add that I sewed a casing around each end and put a little piece of elastic in it to close it around the hose.

OK.....I'm not even going to wear my tonight!! Too late to clean it.....know what I'll be doing tomorrow!!;)

I'm SO surprised you were told NOT to wash your hose...there are even special l-o-n-g brushes sold to do just this! My heavens, I clean mine with a brush every 2-3 days and can definitely tell the difference with the smell -- less 'moldy'/musty -- when it's been cleaned.

For the longest time I didn't realize I could remove the lid of the water chamber (it's really hard to do) to clean it and was just filling it with hot soapy water and rinsing.....until the night I couldn't stand not "really cleaning" it even one more night. I got that lid off and felt the inside of the chamber and realized it was SLIMY from not being properly cleaned, I nearly died of being grossed out!!!:shock: Now that thing gets properly scrubbed at least once a week as well. No matter how often these things are replaced!

I'd rather sleep without my CPAP (which could literally kill me - and nearly did in the hospital when they failed to apply it in recovery following hip replacement surgery in 2011 - because I have severe OSA) rather than risk the mold factor going up my nose and into my lungs ever again!!! I am obsessive about it now.
