Wow, thank you for sharing that. I work part-time in a nursing home, close to my home, as an RN supervisor every other weekend. The core staff is top-notch & there's rarely a dull moment! It is so humbling to hear history from someone who has lived it rather than reading general history from books. I periodically remind some of the old-timers that "beauty is within the eye of the beholder" & to me, they are beautiful. It warms my heart when I get a smile back & I get a glimpse of the young person hiding within. This eloquent poem says it all. Again, thanks for sharing!!

Oh Wow!! I think I've read this before but it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves to really look at people and as the poem says feel with our heart. Thank you.

I have used this poem (only it was "old woman") for several years when I teach older adult in Growth & Development to my nursing students. The date on the poem is from 1991.
