craft foam

I made a small pillow for my little dog. I used foam for the interior. A friend told me that animals may chew up the pillow and choke on the foam,
Has anyone heard something like this?
Don't want the pillow to be a hazard.
Thanks.

Is your dog a chewer? We had a cocker that didn't chew anything after he passed the puppy stage. But I think that was because he got zapped once when we weren't home. We used to keep him penned in the kitchen as a puppy and from time to time he would do his Houdini act and get out - once when I came home we found a lamp plug pulled from the wall and chewed up. He was fine - but never did it again and didn't chew on anything that wasn't his. But he did take over a hooked rug I had made, it was a Snowman with long pieces of white yarn for the Snowman. Cuddles loved it! It was only put out at Christmas until he took it over and he would curl up on it, I would chase him off then he would go back - I gave up, when it was time to put it away I put it in his bed. He slept with it for years - he never chewed on it.

Is it foam chips or solid foam? If it's solid foam he might chew off a piece big enough but a good cover like denim would prevent that. If the dog is a chewer, he could eat the foam out of your couch cushions.
