Craftsy- again

I’m a premium member lol lol
Have a look at the the screen grabs from earlier today, customer services are now telling me the new content has to be paid for separately?! No much for unlimited and access to every class |

Me too such a shame I’ve learnt so much, I’m really disappointed 😞

It's an odd business model, for sure. I'd love to look at their balance sheet. I don't understand how the original Craftsy could have been so successful and popular with their original service levels and pricing model, then sold (and sold again), and now this is the only way they can make a profit? What is it with the craft industry where they feel like they have to play all kinds of tricky games with pricing? Joann's with their coupon shenanigans is a good example. And there's a local craft chain in my region, every single product is marked with a white tag "regular price" AND a red tag "sale price" on the day it enters the store. If *everything* is on sale all the time, then *nothing* is on sale.
I sent Craftsy a email right before their most recent reorganization about a promotion they sent out stating that all quilting classes were free for a specific weekend. I found one I wanted to take but it was definitely not free. The customer service person who responded to my email said only classes listed in a certain section were free. My reply was that section was exactly where I had found this class, and it felt pretty baity-and-switchy to me, did they not care that their reputation amongst their customer base was getting trashed? No response to that. |
Hobby Lobby has joined in that 'discount' game. Lady cutting fabric told me before Christmas no more 30% off would be 25% every other week. I don't buy anything from any of them.
Buying remnants is also a rip off. You sometimes pay as much as you save, making the cost of it actually higher than a full yard would cost. I have been noticing a lot of cheating at some check outs lately. |
I bought a $5.00 membership and have no idea why because I can't watch anything I want to see. I'm going to cancel it before the membership is due.

I have also found this same thing on the Old Fon's & Porter website. When it was bought out, I lost all of my magazine online subscriptions. I can no longer view my magazines online that I had already paid for, What happened to customer loyalty.

No much for unlimited and access to every class I don't know how Craftsy is being run now, but it looks from your screenshots like you aren't logged into the website. If you are already a premium member and logged in, you shouldn't be seeing those screens. I have the $5 (basic) membership, and I've been able to watch every class I've tried. It's not clear to me what "extra" you get with the premium membership. Maybe new content produced since the ownership change? I haven't looked for anything really recent, although I have been able to watch classes that are new to me. |

The original agreement was for all-access and as such, is a contract between each subscriber and Craftsy.
They can't just change the rules for existing subscribers. I have written to customer service and I will let you know what I hear back. Watson |
At my age, I have learned that a lifetime warranty doesn't mean a whole lot. Whose lifetime - I had a good set of pots & pans and needed a handle replaced on one, found out the company is no longer. That is just one example, but there have been more.

I had a reply and learnt a new word verbiage
I am reaching out because I did send your feedback to our Management Team and they are requesting to know what class you are trying to watch. As we tell all our customers, your feedback is very important to us. With that said we are currently making changes to our verbiage because you graciously provided this feedback to us. In return, we would like to offer the class you are trying to view to you for free. Please let me know and we will have that class added to your "Classes" icon on your Account Dashboard. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Thank you so much for your feedback! It is with valuable members like you that we are the Craftsy we are today. Sincerely, |

To contact admin on the Quiltingboard, you can reach Patrice here: [email protected]. However, I'm not sure that signing up for Craftsy is something she can or will do anything about. People are free to make their own choices. |

When you say "admin", are you trying to contact admin here on the board, or are you quoting more of your communications with Craftsy?

People are free to make their own choices. Craftsy are just about to have a new launch and assumed it was Important information for fellow quilters to make an informed choice before paying out. But I’ve done my ressearch and I will leave it at that, let’s hope no more of our members are left feeling ripped off. We quilters deserve better ! |

I didn't realize this low level of business practice had even reached Fon's & Porter; once the most respected quilt shop/site to depend on. I have collected many of their tips and stacks of their magazines in the past. This is disappointing to hear about them. McCalls is another one I really depend on. I hope they don't sink.

I've been in contact with customer service back and forth and the bottom line is that their advertising says you can "access" all classes for free....which doesn't mean you can actually watch them for free. It means you can see the previews.
Weasel words and I told them so. The customer service person kept telling me I was "confused". There are 30 classes that span all the different crafts, that you have to pay for...about 5 (?) of them are quilting. I only paid $9.95 for a year, so it's still a good deal, but burns my bum that they are being so sneaky. I wonder if all new classes will be purchase only? Watson |
It's forums like this that keep consumers informed. Thanks to all.

Great detective work I read a quote somewhere today “ follow the artist not the corporation” wish I could remember who wrote it.
today in my inbox the ad states $79.99 premium membership but all mine for just $7 ?? And no details of the “gold” membership gone up from 2.49 yesterday, I’m waiting for my free class to say sorry but I have confirmed my membership ends in April and I will no longer be charged .
