My mom came down from Missouri to see her granddaughters a couple of weeks ago and we had to hit some garage/yard sales while she was here. She found this amazing cross-stitched lighthouse and paid $3.00 for it. I love it and it proudly hangs in my dining room for all the world to see. I just had to share.

what a lot of work went into that!

EvelynJ 05-01-2014 05:57 PM

That is what I thought.....so much time and dedication to create for someone to just dismiss so easily. I appreciate the work as well as the beauty.

OMG........sold for $3.00.......too much work to see that pretty pic sold at any price!

Oh my gosh....that is beautiful and although I am happy you got a great bargain tis sad to see others thought so little of all the work that went into it. Nice that it has a home that appreciates all the hard work gone into it.

I do believe sincerely that only 'craft' people really appreciate 'things done' by others......your $3.00 treasure being one of them....I once did cross stitching and it is a very tedious, careful art form......my backs were messy, whereas my daughter's, whom I taught, were almost as fine as her fronts! Better than her " teacher's"!

What a treasure you have. I do counted cross stitch and I can appreciate the "masterpiece" that you have. It's beautiful.

EvelynJ 05-02-2014 03:08 PM

Thank you....I felt it deserved to be seen by others who shared a love of beauty. I too do cross stitch and admit that my backs are really messy as well but whatever once it's in a frame who cares. LOL

what a beautiful piece! Being an x-stitcher myself before I "found" the quilting hobby- I can appreciate the work that went into this. I'm glad that you rescued and appreciate it--so sad that somebody didn't. I can relate, I gifted a wedding xstitch that took 100's of HOURS to do complete with beading and fancy goodies and a $400 framing job- and the receiver didn't even hang it! I have no idea where it is. Same person "got" a Christmas quilt from me because she loved it- and I have again no idea where it is--never have seen it again........guess what?? NO more goodies at this time for that house.............

Amazing...........Beautiful!! I also am a cross stitcher and I can appreciate how much time and work went into this. Great buy!!

It amazes me that someone would have no appreciation for such a beautiful piece. $3? Oh my. I am glad that it now has a home where it is appreciated. Congratulations.

That is a lovely cross stitch picture! I am sure who ever made it would be very happy that it is hanging in someone's house who truly appreciates the work that went into it. :)

WOW, it's gorgeous. It almost looks like a Thomas Kincaid picture, it's beautiful, and a fantastic price too.

Just beautiful.

So beautiful....and so sad. Someone put a lot of work and love into this, and then it ends up in a garage sale for $3.00. Glad you rescued it!

All in all its a happy ending.. its where it can be appreciated. Many , many hours of work finally found its true home.

fayeberry 05-03-2014 11:42 AM

that is lovely

GingerK 05-03-2014 03:07 PM

It is beautiful and looks like it was professionally framed. I am glad that you rescued it.

Having said that, we just moved our mother into a retirement home. She was returning gifts to family members and gave me two samplers that I had x-stitched for her many years ago, because there was no place to hang them in her new apartment. I also had no place to put them in my own home, plus would have had to ship them. So, what to do? Sometimes you just have to let things go, and pray that someone else will appreciate the creation, workmanship, and love that went into the item.

Stunning!!!!

Many people just don't value things like this. Sad but true.
