Just need to vent a bit here. My DH came down w/a nasty cough/cold(now wondering if it was actually the flu) a few days after Christmas. He is just now feeling better. My son started feeling bad on Saturday and has now missed two school days since vacation ended. He is asthmatic and is now using two prescription inhalers, an antibiotic, and Rx cough medicine. I'm hoping he doesn't end up needing prednisone or breathing treatments to get through this. Now for the really fun part! Monday I started to not feel very well, and by this morning felt like I had been hit by a truck. Aching all over, headache, sore throat, congestion. I am hoping my daughter is lucky and bypasses this lovely illness, but right now it is not looking good! Thanks for letting me vent, I hope anyone else who has the crud at their house feels better soon!!

It is a short lived crud, which we had 2 weeks before Christmas. It is icky, but passed quickly. Stay warm and drink, drink, drink (water that is - smile).

I hope all of your famiy is feeling better real soon!!!!

Are you sure it has to be water?! LOL!! I actually don't even feel like eating right now. Have been drinking a lot of tea, mostly hot, and eating toast. My DH wanted to take me out to dinner tonight, but took one look at me still in my PJ's, hair not done and yesterdays make-up smeared around my eyes and figured out quickly how bad I'm feeling. The worst part is there is a baby quilt sandwiched in my sewing room that needs quilting but I am not feeling up to it.Maybe I will feel better tomorrow.

We passed something similar around our family. It just took time :( Hugs

So sorry to hear you're sick. My DH got sick a week before our out of town company was to get here for the holidays so I moved out of our bedroom into spare room hoping not to catch it. That was not to be, as Christmas Eve morning I got up sick just as company arrived. I was sick thru the holidays and I am still sick. so sick in fact that doc won't let me join in the weight loss this month. She wants my immune system to build up first. Guess once the CRUD is in the house it is almost impossible to avoid it.

Yep, we've had it too and it does hang on for awhile. I felt generally lousy for 10 days, but make to normal now.

maryb119 01-05-2011 03:30 PM

I have it now.

Carrie Jo 01-05-2011 03:42 PM

We had the CRUD too. Myself, DSand DDall had it the week of new years the only one who didnt catch it was DH so far. Just get lots of rest and fluids and ride it out it wont last forever.

AlwaysQuilting 01-05-2011 03:46 PM

The same crud went through our family like Grant took Richmond.
We all went down like dominoes. It's over fast but that's little comfort I guess.
I hope you're all better soon.

craftybear 01-05-2011 05:16 PM

I am 29 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I keep passing the crud to my DH who in turn keeps passing it back to me :(

I hope we ALL start to feel better very very soon!

sewwhat85 01-05-2011 09:11 PM

I got the crud the day after Thanksgiving, the coughing was the hardest thing to get rid of, I finally went to the Dr. and some of my problem was allergies. After I got an inhaler and nose mist, I finally got to feeling better. Hang in there.

Alondra 01-06-2011 03:20 PM

Hope you all are feeling better now, or are in the process of getting better. Here's hoping your daughter manages to avoid whatever it is.

I got a strain of it the early part of the week of Christmas...by Christmas I couldn't talk and began getting better then until this week when I've been coughing and coughing, sneezing, drippy nose! I am feeling better and didn't really feel "bad". DH has it since last Friday and is home from work today (but he did my dishes and straightened up some). He works outside (carpentry) and just didn't feel he could do that today. So I am just under 3 weeks, and he's just a full week, so hopefully this will leave our household soon!! I'm sick of it!

tjradj 01-06-2011 04:04 PM

If it's not just a cough, but the ache and feeling hit by a truck thing - it's the flu. Not all flu is gastric!
Like they said, stay hydrated, treat any fever - not with aspirin, use tylenol or aleve instead, and ride it out.
Put a "no visiting" sign on your door until you guys are all better :(

ladydragonfly 01-06-2011 04:24 PM

My household had the same stuff, started with my father-in-law, then my husband and then me. Like others said it doesn't last too long. Hope you feel better soon :)

isnthatodd 01-06-2011 04:27 PM

It's a really good thing you can't catch the flu through the web, or we'd all be sick all the time

ladyshuffler 01-06-2011 07:12 PM

Sorry to hear...it hit me the day after Thanksgiving it goes for like 3 FULL weeks!!

nancir 01-06-2011 08:54 PM

I'm sorry you're all ill and I hope eveyone is better soon. Sounds like the flu to me. Did you all get your flu shots? They work and you can't get the flu from them because you're injected with dead virus. I don't mean to sound preachy but I'm a nurse and I work in infection control. Clean all your surfaces (like phones) with a germacide (bleach or Lysol work)that way there's less chance of it recirculating.

IBQUILTIN 01-06-2011 09:51 PM

Spray EVERYTHING with a disinfectant, and wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands

cathyvv 01-06-2011 09:55 PM

Vent away!

I always found that when I was sick, I had to 'carry on' and when anyone else in the family was sick, I had to 'carry on', too.

Now that the kids are grown and on their own, I give myself sick days when I need them. But, of course, I miss the days when I had to 'carry on'. That's human nature, right?

Feel better! And that's an order!!!!

rona thickpenny 01-07-2011 01:01 AM
