curtain shades

Does anyone make their own curtain shades? If so, can you give me some ideas on how to do them. Are their any kind of shades that you can cut to size?

Are you talking about flat window shades made of fabric or the ones that drape and have the vertical gathers and scalloped bottom?

I've made the flat ones and just made them like a pillow case--double fabric with a dowel rod at the bottom for stability and attached them to the roller from an old shade at the top.

Have not done the other kind. I think for those you make a flat shade then have a cord running through a casing at each of the gathering points.

If you look in the pattern books I think there are patterns in the home decor section of either McCalls or Simplicity (maybe both).
