Dammit Doll
What fabric would you suggest to make a "Dammit Doll" from. Has anyone used anything besides cotton and how did it stand up?

Don't know what "Dammit Doll" is???

The ones I have seen where done with heavy weight muslin or similar since that are supposed to take lots of abuse.

You can use anything, I think, as long as it's sturdy. What about corduroy? I work with someone who has one. I should check hers out.

Oh my!! I was intrigued and googled it. I must make one of these for a certain someone. She is a lovely lady who is under a tremendous amount of stress right now. I think it would be the perfect gift for her.

I was going to make Dammit Dolls for the girls at the quilting retreat I am holding in September. Always during the retreat something is done that is soooooo frustrating. The dammit doll helps you take out your frustrations. Like when you sew a row together and find out that you have mixed up the blocks... or the bobbin runs out just at the wrong time or you sew with no bobbin thread....you know. The dammit things we do. Then one grabs the feet of the doll and bangs it on the table (instead of ones head) Usually one says "Dammit" or something similar. Yes, people having a lot of stress in their lives could use one!!!! Check out the website that was posted above. https://dammitdolls.com/Home or googe it.
These poems that go with the dolls say it best https://sites.google.com/site/dammit...doll-poem-tags |
I have one made during the gulf war. It is called the Sadammit doll. It has a little saying pinned to it. It is like the day it was given to me. It is made of cotton.
