she has had 2 gatherings, and told me she has realized she doesn't have a serving tray,or gadgets like cheese slicer, etc. i was thinking of buying a few gadgets for her .

i was thinking of buying a wooden serving tray and do some decoupage with material. never worked with that medium before, have you?

They are all teachers, and all pretty young, 30's. maybe some fabric with teacher kind of design, or something more modern.

any ideas,or tips?

If you decoupage it, make sure that the tray is washable and can be used to serve food. You'll need some type of sealant - I'm not sure what, because I've never done so.

Try a party store for some of their cute plastic serving platters. They are reusable and not too costly. Maybe you could put something on the underside of some clear plates?

Silly me. I thought you were looking for book suggestions and was going to suggest my book. LOL.

As for partyware, you can find some inexpensive things at your local dollar store.

You might want to try Sam's Club for tray items/ buffet items. That way she could also serve hot food not just cold cheeses, etc. Otherwise department stores have really attractive cheese trays that come with cheese slicers - I love the ones I saw at Dillards and Macy's not too long ago.

Thanks for the tip! i went to Joanns for thier red tag sale and i had a 20% off total coupon...found a nice wooden tray..for about 3 bucks.

it has a clear coated bottom, so she can just wipe it clean, instead of washing it.

i love the idea of some clear plastic hard plates too! could put fabric on the bottoms! you guys are the best!

Wish I could give advise - but can't think of anything except look in the second hand stores for things
