Davy Jones (The Monkees) died
He had a heart attack. 66 yrs old. I remember watching them, silly as they were, back then it wasn't as silly.
I watched reruns of that show when I was little (not that long ago). I loved him, he was so cool
They brought rock and roll to our living rooms. Also, the sold more albums then the Beatles and Stones combined!
I love them there music is still wonderful. Davy's voice was great.
Brings back so many memories of high school, waiting with my best friend for the show to come on, sighing over how cute he was, how funny they were, singing along with all their songs. I will say a little prayer for him tonight and remember all the joy.
I heard the news on the way home from work today. I felt so sad. My best friend had their album and we'd sit in her room in the late 60's and dream of someday marrying Davy Jones LOL. It was such a wonderful time in my life. He certainly left this earth too soon.
I remember watching the Monkees when I was in Jr. High! I loved to listen to them sing. My cousin and I had all their albums...on vinyl records....that tells my age doesn't it! The Monkees were one of the good ones...no drugs....no scandals...just good clean fun. RIP Davy!
So sad-I also had a big crush on him-loved watching their silly TV show and had all their music! Still know all the words to their songs!!
Sad....I had a huge crush on him when I was young.
They had the best songs to sing along with... I still can't resist joining in when ever I hear one of their tunes.
sad part of our youth is gone. Such talent
I had a HUGE crush on Davy Jones back in the day! Posters hanging over my bed, music playing full blast, day dreaming that one day he would be MINE! What fond memories of my youth. Thank you Davy for being a part of my growing up years. You will be missed. R.I.P.
me too. One of my first I think.
Daydream Believer was my favorite song by them. On the news they said The Monkees sold more songs in 1967 than the Beatles and Rolling Stones. I didn't realize that. They were out when I was in high school. Hearing their songs brought back a lot of memories.
My little sister cried for days when he married the first time. She called me yesterday(29th) to tell me and she was crying a little then. He was to young to go, but life happens. We all will miss you Davy!!
another crush here.... still like their songs.
Such a funny show, Davy was really a talent, shame to go at such a young age.
Prayers for the family and one more to add to the "Rock and Roll Heaven".
i loved this guy, still do, but i love all the oldies, cause i can understand what they r singing. so sad, he and his family will b in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can RIP Davy Jones

I hadn't thought of them in years, but I used to love the Monkees. Of course, Davy was the cute one! Good clean fun. Their show was silly, but their music was surprisingly good. I still like it. I used to have every one of their albums, and they made quite a few.
Davy's death really makes me feel old... He gave us a lot of happiness. My condolences to his loved ones. |
They were a very good group especially if you consider that the shows producers put them together as a band. They never knew each other before the show. And then they sold millions of records, their tunes still alive today.
I sat and watched and sang with them. I am very saddened by his passing at an early age. |
I was sad to hear it as well. I enjoy their songs. The Monkees were one of the original boy bands.
SOOOO sad! AND young. When I was a kid I remember reading about his father's passing.... he was relatively young too.
yes there music was great i still have thier 1st 3 albums lol . my dad surprised me with them when i came home from europe when i was 12. those were great days for music. RIP davy

I had a major crush on Davy too. I had the posters and lots of The Monkee's 45s. I was 10 in 1967 I watched the TV show too.

Very sad :(

I have often wandered what happened to them. I was doing some of my family history stuff about 6 months ago and came across some old photos that my sister-in-law took of them when they got off the plane for their first concert in Richmond, VA. She wanted to just toss them out but I held on to them because I loved them all so much as I was growing up so I just tucked them away so I could continue to have my treasured memories. Hugs to his family, with a tearful eye, we will always remember how they added so much fun to our lives.
