which cost almost $500 earlier this year. She's sure she last had them in our master bathroom. Having combed the house and cars a couple of times, I am getting ready to go through the garbage bags that will get picked up on Friday. (I'm thinking maybe they got knocked into a trash bin by mistake, and I did empty all the bathroom trash bins into the larger garbage bags earlier in the week.) I don't have any of those thick rubber gloves, though, and it would take me an hour to drive into town and back to get some.

It's a good thing she has contact lenses; she didn't start looking for her eyeglasses until a few minutes before leaving for her first day of college classes!

Just wish we had a little beeper locator in the eyeglass frames.

Has anyone misplaced their eyeglasses in some weird place I might have not thought of checking? I'm not looking forward to going through those garbage bags......

Update: Used some of dh's old leather gloves and went through the garbage bags. No glasses. sigh.......

If I misplace my glasses, I can find the floor in the morning. LOL Had contacts for a while, but can't wear them anymore. One time I fell asleep with them in, and took about 10 minutes to figure out what was different when I woke up. I could actually see!

I wear contacts but take them out at night. I frequently knock my glasses off the night stand and have to crawl around trying to "feel" for them. They are usually under the bed but have ended up under the nightstand and even into a bookcase that is right next to the bed.

Sounds just like kids. I hope you find them.

Quilter7x 08-25-2010 10:39 AM

Yes! I found mine behind the hamper one time. I also wear contacts and didn't remember the last time I had glasses on. I must have put them on top of the hamper and put something on top of that then opened the hamper. That's the only way I figure they could have gotten back there. adult. :?

Good luck finding them - and she needs to be included in finding them since they are hers and she's just about a full grown

our bed has a lip where the mattress and frame meet for some reason most of my kids stuff finds its way there. Sorry wish I could help. look under the car seat mats that is where my cell phone loves to hide.

It's good a looked thru the garbage bags. My neighbor discovered, after stuffing 8 bags of leaves, that her glasses were missing. She started emptying bags and, sure enough, found her glasses in bag #7! :-)

This may sound nuts but I find things I lost by hypnotizing myself. I relax and get very still and think about the last time I had the item that was lost. It works for me.

champagnebubbles 08-25-2010 11:55 AM

I found mine in the chair. I looked there 20 times I swear

Sadly everytime I've misplaced my glasses and was sure I knew where I'd them last.....I was absolutely wrong! Mine have turned up in some odd places. Dropped to the floor when I missed the nightstand, laundry hamper with post-shower towels once. The worst is that they only have to be set down......I've lost them on top of the microwave because I never thought of looking there. Just not a usual place to take them off. Maybe if she tries to backtrack and lets go of the idea she had them in the bathroom. Might also help to remember what she was doing in the bath.....shower? teeth? make-up? Sometimes a clue pops up in your mind. I guess I'd do the garbage too as a last resort, but I think I'd sit back, have a tea or coffee, watch something silly on TV and then try again first......
Good luck. You must be having a terribly frustrating day. Hope you're able to post that you've found them real soon!

I take my glasses off in the same spot every night. So in the morning I know exactly where I left them, on top of my keyboard.
I can manage to wander about the house, outside and even drive without them, but anything up close like reading or sewing and while I am on the computer everything is blurry.

janRN 08-25-2010 02:51 PM

I took mine off, fell asleep, and the next morning made the bed. Couldn'f find glasses all day so wore %$%# contacts. When I went to bed that night and got under the covers, yep-there they were--right in the bed.

Lisanne 08-25-2010 09:57 PM

Could they be behind the toilet or sink?

I have a habit of hanging mine on the towel rack. There?

Could they have fallen inside a Kleenex box?

Maybe she stuck them in the medicine cabinet without thinking?

She was packing for school, right? Perhaps they ended up in a suitcase or box.

I dont know if she requires special glasses but to save you another 500$ look into this place. I have not ordered from them yet but I will when I get new exam. I have heard really good things and a friend of mine just got really nice glasses from them
If you can get her old prescription then the glasses will be cheap.

I have used zennioptical before, found out about them through Clark Howard. I pad under 15.00 for my glasses and that included shipping, and they were REALLY nice. Also have bought DS a pair there, and both times it only took 10 days!

BRenea 08-26-2010 06:36 PM

I'm blind as a bat without glasses or contacts, so I always know where they are! One time I did step on my glasses, guess they fell off the nightstand!

charmpacksplus 08-26-2010 06:43 PM

Maybe in a coat or sweater pocket, in a purse, a drawer, or my favorite place to look when I lose my sunglasses... on top of my head.

Prism99 08-28-2010 09:07 PM

granniebj 08-29-2010 01:35 AM

I sure hope you find them! I have contact lenses & no glasses! I really need a pair! I just never seem to have the money after purchasing the lenses. I love my contacts!

 Today is her day for cleaning up her room. Apparently the glasses had fallen on the floor and when she got up, she kicked them all the way under the bed to the other side. I greatly suspect clothing on the floor impeded her view when she had checked before. It sure is a relief to have those expensive glasses back!
